Bayswater

We are currently seeking an experienced and hands-on Drafting Manager to lead our drafting team at our Bayswater facility in Perth in a full-time, permanent role.

About Us

PROK Conveyor Components is Australia’s largest manufacturer of conveyor components, specialising in high-quality pulleys, idlers, and rollers for the mining and materials handling industries. Backed by over 130 years of engineering excellence, we’re trusted by some of the world’s largest mining companies and engineering firms to deliver reliable, high-performance solutions.

As part of the global NEPEAN group, PROK combines local expertise with international scale, employing over 2,000 people across 20+ countries. Our success is driven by the passion, knowledge, and commitment of our people, and we foster a culture that encourages collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.

Our Opportunity

This role puts you at the head of PROK’s drafting team while keeping you hands-on with designing. As Drafting Manager, you’ll set daily priorities across Sales and Production, mentor your Draftspersons, and make sure accurate drawings go out on time. You’ll also own our drafting standards, Autodesk Vault environment and Inventor configurator tools, which gives you real influence over turnaround, quality and standardisation. If you enjoy coaching a team and building smarter design tools for the conveyor components that keep Australia’s mining industry moving, this is a chance to make a genuine impact.

Key responsibilities include:

- Lead, mentor and develop a team of Draftspersons, setting clear expectations for output, quality and conduct
- Set and manage daily team priorities, balancing sales drawings, manufacturing drawings for live orders and tender and project work
- Set the standard through your own drafting of 3D models, assemblies, and sales and manufacturing drawings using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD
- Check and approve drawings to ensure compliance with PROK drafting standards, customer specifications and relevant Australian and international standards
- Provide technical support to the team on complex or non-standard drawing requirements
- Create and maintain parametric Inventor models, configurators and frame templates, prioritising the products that consume the most drafting resource
- Own and administer Autodesk Vault, including lifecycle states, revision control and part numbering, and complete the migration of legacy data. Ensure drawing properties are searchable to enable easy identification of similar designs
- Develop and publish drafting guides and standard component documentation, and support the creation of IOMs for each core product group
- Support integration between design tools and our ERP system to streamline BOM creation
- Achieve agreed turnaround service levels, including 24-hour turnaround of sales drawings for quotes and orders
- Track rework and change requests, report weekly on team performance and deliver at least one product or process improvement each quarter
- Act as the primary drafting contact for Sales and Production, clarifying requirements and communicating drawing status and lead times

About you

- You will have a tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Drafting or a related discipline, with at least 10 years’ mechanical drafting experience in a manufacturing, mining or heavy industry environment.
- You will have at least 5 years’ experience leading or supervising a drafting or technical team, with robust coaching skills and the ability to motivate and develop others.
- You will have advanced proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, including parametric modelling and iLogic, and proven experience building configurators from first principles.

- You will have hands-on experience with Autodesk Vault (lifecycle management, revision control and data migration) and proficiency in AutoCAD.
- You will have a strong understanding of drawing standards (AS 1100, ISO) and GD&T;, along with experience with ERP systems and BOM structures in a manufacturing context.
- Experience with conveyor components or bulk material handling equipment is highly regarded, as is experience with Teamcenter or legacy CAD data migration.
- You are highly organised, detail-focused and data-driven, able to balance competing demands from Sales and Production and communicate confidently at all levels.
- You are proactive about continuous improvement and committed to safety, quality and professional conduct.

Why Join PROK?

At PROK, we firmly believe our people are our greatest asset. We value long-term relationships, both with our customers and with each other. You’ll be part of a collaborative environment where technical expertise is respected and innovation is encouraged.
