Owen Legal is a CBD-based law firm specialising in commercial litigation and dispute resolution, with additional expertise in estate disputes. As a growing practice, this is a unique opportunity for an experienced lawyer to join at an early stage and play a key role in shaping the firm’s development.

We are seeking a lawyer with 5+ years’ PAE who is confident running their own files from start to finish. You will join a small, cooperative team alongside our Principal, Stirling Owen, and a junior lawyer, managing a varied commercial and estates practice with a high degree of autonomy while working closely with the Principal on strategy and the firm’s growth.

We are open to full-time or part-time arrangements, with the option to work from our CBD office, from home, or a mix of both. We are happy to discuss hours that suit you, which makes this role well suited to experienced practitioners balancing professional work with family or other commitments.

You will run matters across the Magistrates, District and Supreme Courts, including:

- Debt recovery and enforcement
- Contractual disputes
- Negligence claims
- Consumer law
- Insurance disputes
- Family provision claims
- Estate disputes
- Partnership disputes
- Property disputes

Key responsibilities:





- Independently managing a caseload from initial instructions through to resolution
- Developing and implementing case strategy
- Drafting correspondence, pleadings and Court documents
- Conducting negotiations and attending mediations
- Appearing in interlocutory and other hearings as required
- Briefing and working with Counsel
- Advising and communicating with clients and third parties
- Legal research
- Attending client meetings
- Contributing to the firm’s growth, including client relationships and practice development

About you:

- 5+ years’ PAE in commercial litigation and/or estate disputes
- Proven ability to run matters autonomously with minimal supervision
- Strong drafting, advocacy and negotiation skills
- Sound judgment and a practical, client-focused approach
- Unrestricted practising certificate (or eligibility to obtain one) in Western Australia
