SMB Advisory is seeking an experienced insolvency and restructuring professional to join our Melbourne office at Manager, Senior Manager or Associate Principal level.

This is an opportunity to manage a varied portfolio, work directly with experienced Principals and contribute to how the practice is run and developed. The level of appointment and responsibilities will reflect your experience.

SMB Advisory is a longstanding boutique practice specialising in restructuring, turnaround and insolvency. We provide practical advice and solutions to business owners, lenders, professional advisers and other stakeholders.

About the Role

Working closely with our Principals, you will take responsibility for engagements, lead team members and contribute to the management of the practice.

Your role will include

- Managing a portfolio of insolvency, restructuring and advisory engagements
- Planning and overseeing investigations, financial analysis, reporting and statutory compliance
- Working with Principals on engagement strategies, asset realisations, business operations and commercial decisions
- Managing budgets, resources, deadlines and the quality of work delivered
- Leading discussions with directors, creditors, lenders, professional advisers and other stakeholders
- Supervising and developing team members, including reviewing their work and providing practical guidance
- Contributing to practice management, team development and improvements in how we work

Our engagements include liquidations,



voluntary administrations, small business restructures, receiverships and bankruptcies, alongside distressed business advisory, business valuations, and forensic investigations. Your portfolio will reflect your experience and areas of expertise.

About You

You will have relevant experience at Manager, Senior Manager or Associate Principal level in corporate and/or personal insolvency and restructuring.

We are looking for

- Robust technical knowledge and sound commercial judgement
- A demonstrated ability to manage engagements, make decisions and identify matters requiring Principal input
- Strong analytical, investigative and problem-solving skills
- Clear communication skills and the ability to build relationships and manage difficult conversations
- Experience leading, mentoring and developing staff
- The ability to manage competing priorities, budgets and deadlines
- A collaborative approach and an interest in contributing to the wider practice

CA or CPA qualifications are preferred, and ARITA qualifications or membership would be highly regarded. Applicants must be eligible to live and work in Australia.
