The client delivers digital experiences and is undertaking a major project scheduled for completion at the end of May. This opportunity offers a mid-weight PHP Developer the chance to contribute to a significant delivery, working alongside developers and user experience designers in a collaborative environment.

About The Role

As the Mid-Weight PHP Developer, you will contribute to the development and integration of digital solutions for a major project. The role requires hands-on PHP and MySQL capability, alongside proven JSP experience, which is essential. You will work with a range of front-end technologies, frameworks, APIs, and development practices to help deliver reliable, maintainable project outcomes.

This is a contractor position with an anticipated project completion date at the end of May. The successful candidate will bring initiative, sound technical judgement, and the confidence to take ownership of work. You will also be comfortable sharing ideas, communicating with stakeholders, and stepping forward to guide tasks or support others when needed. A collaborative approach and interest in aligning development workflows with UX design will be valuable.

Qualifications

Applicants should have professional development experience appropriate to a mid-weight role and be able to demonstrate the following skills and capabilities:

- Robust PHP and MySQL development skills.
- Proven JSP experience, which is essential for this position.
- Working knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, AJAX, and Bootstrap.
- Understanding of object-oriented programming, MVC patterns, and software development practices.
- Experience working in Agile environments, including Scrum teams.
- Ability to integrate third-party APIs and work with RESTful web services.
- Familiarity with Backbone and Angular.
- Exposure to Bower, Grunt, and Yeoman.




- Understanding of front-end development and how it supports effective digital experiences.
- Enterprise CMS exposure is preferred, including platforms such as Sitecore, AEM, SDL, or Interwoven.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical ideas and present information to clients.
- A self-starting attitude, dependable follow-through, and the ability to collaborate and take a lead on assigned work.

Responsibilities

- Develop, enhance, and maintain application features using PHP, MySQL, and JSP.
- Contribute to project delivery by writing clear, maintainable code and following established development practices.
- Build and support front-end functionality using relevant web technologies and frameworks.
- Integrate third-party services through APIs and RESTful web services.
- Work closely with developers, UX designers, and other project contributors to coordinate workflows and deliver cohesive solutions.
- Participate in Agile and Scrum activities, communicate progress, and raise delivery risks or dependencies promptly.
- Take ownership of assigned tasks, contribute practical ideas, and provide guidance where appropriate.
- Support testing, troubleshooting, and refinement to help ensure the quality and reliability of project outcomes.
