About the Team
Artificial intelligence is changing the way governments, industries and communities operate.
The newly established Office of AI works in The Cabinet Office to strengthen whole-of-government leadership and provide coordination and oversight of NSW’s AI agenda. The Office leads the NSW Government’s public policy response to artificial intelligence, advises government on emerging risks, regulation and standards, examines the economic, industry and societal impacts of AI and coordinates NSW positions with other jurisdictions.
The Office works across government to ensure NSW is well positioned to harness the opportunities of AI while managing risks in the public interest.
This is a rare opportunity to join a growing team at an early stage and contribute to work that will influence how government considers, adopts and responds to AI in the years ahead. You'll work on matters attracting significant interest and contribute to outcomes that balance innovation, public value and the responsible use of technology.
About the Role
As our new Assistant Analyst, Policy, you’ll research and analyse complex and emerging policy issues, helping develop evidence-based advice and recommendations that support government decision-making. The role will contribute to briefs, reports, correspondence and policy proposals, as well as project and policy work across priority areas.
Drawing on your research and analytical skills, you’ll assess information from a range of sources, identify key issues and translate evidence into clear, practical advice. The role also involves working with colleagues across government and external stakeholders to support consultation, policy development and the delivery of projects and initiatives.
Based within the Office of AI in the Data and Digital Policy Branch, Energy,
Environment and Evidence Group, you’ll work alongside policy, strategy and technology specialists on emerging AI policy issues and the NSW Government’s broader approach to artificial intelligence.
This opportunity is well suited to someone who is curious, analytical and comfortable working across complex and evolving issues. Strong collaboration, clear communication and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced policy environment will be important.
