Help people find a motorhome that suits their travel plansA motorhome is a significant purchase. Buyers need someone who can understand the trips they want to take, work through the practical details and help them make a confident decision.
Interstate is looking for a Sales Consultant to join our Newcastle team. You'll help customers by phone and in person, recommend a motorhome that fits their needs, and guide them through the purchase when they're ready to proceed.
This role suits someone who enjoys understanding people and helping them make a well-informed purchase. You'll need curiosity, commercial judgement and reliable follow-through on every agreed next step.
What you'll do
- Speak with customers at appointments arranged by our enquiry team, help with enquiries as they come in, and welcome showroom visitors.
- Understand customers' travel plans, priorities, budget and timing, including anything that could make a motorhome unsuitable.
- Recommend a suitable configuration, explaining how it meets the customer's needs using accurate product information.
- Run viewings and demonstrations that let buyers test the things they need to be sure about.
- Answer questions about price, suitability and timing, and explain the deposit and next steps when a customer is ready to proceed.
- Explain the contract, inclusions and deposit terms clearly, and keep buyers informed while their van is built.
- Connect customers with our specialist team for trade-in valuations and finance enquiries.
- Follow up interest in our email offers and help customers with outstanding questions or agreed next steps.
- Keep useful notes and agreed follow-up dates in Pipedrive so customers receive consistent service.
What you'll bring
- Experience helping customers make considered purchases, from their first questions through to a completed sale.
- Confidence selling over the phone as well as face to face.
- The ability to ask useful questions,
listen closely and explain a recommendation simply.
- Confidence discussing budgets, answering concerns and helping customers take the next step in a purchase.
- Reliable follow-up and good CRM habits, even when the showroom is busy.
- Willingness to learn our approach to customer conversations, practise it and act on coaching.
- Sound judgement: check facts, explain trade-offs honestly and say so when a van doesn't fit.
Relevant experience could include motorhomes, automotive sales, real estate, luxury travel, or any other considered purchase. Tell us how you sell and the results you've achieved. How we workOur approach starts with understanding the customer's travel plans. You'll explain suitable options, help them assess the motorhome in a viewing and agree the next step together. We don't discount new vans, so clear explanations of the price, inclusions and suitability are an significant part of the role.
Our enquiry team speaks with new customers about their initial plans and arranges appointments with you. Each day starts with a 15-minute team huddle at 9am, and colleagues help each other keep customer enquiries and follow-up on track.
Your first 12 weeks follow a set training path. You'll begin with supported customer calls and take on enquiries, purchase arrangements and viewings independently as you demonstrate each skill in practice. Coaching continues after that.
This is a sales role with clear goals: a monthly target of 10 deposits received, with a minimum expectation of eight. Much of your day involves helping customers by phone, with around three hours of customer conversation expected daily. Those goals sit alongside the responsibilities above: accurate advice, suitable recommendations and reliable follow-up. Commission is paid when the van is delivered, about two months after the deposit.
ApplyApply with your CV and a short note about a sale you're proud of. Tell us what the customer needed, how you helped them decide and what happened.
