Senior Full-Stack AI Engineer | Pathway to Australian CTOSydney preferred | Australian east coast | Hybrid | Full time

The Meridian Exchange is recruiting on behalf of an AI technology business developing agents and software solutions for the construction industry.

This is a hands-on engineering opportunity with a pathway to Australian CTO. You will build production software, work directly with construction clients and help shape the technical direction and Australian engineering team.

Construction technology experience is essential.

The opportunityYou will turn construction documents and everyday business processes into practical AI workflows—from drawings, specifications and tenders to invoices and operational systems.

Reporting directly to the CEO and Global CTO, you will combine software development with client discovery, architecture decisions and engineering leadership.

What you will do

- Design, build and ship full-stack features using React, TypeScript, Tailwind, Postgres and serverless functions.
- Develop production AI agents and workflows using LLMs, retrieval, tool calling and evaluation.
- Lead client discovery sessions, scope solutions, demonstrate progress and explain technical decisions in plain English.
- Integrate CRMs, ERPs and construction software through APIs and webhooks.
- Own code review, testing, security, privacy and deployment standards—including reviewing and validating AI-assisted code.
- Mentor engineers and contractors and help recruit the Australian technical team.
- Progress towards ownership of the Australian technical roadmap, architecture and delivery.

What you will bring
- At least six years of professional software engineering experience,



including senior ownership of production systems.
- Strong TypeScript, React, Node.js and SQL skills, preferably including Postgres.
- Hands-on experience delivering LLM-powered products using RAG, agents and evaluation.
- Demonstrated construction technology experience: software you have built, shipped or integrated for builders, trades, estimators or project teams.
- Confidence leading meetings and working with non-technical clients.
- Experience with cloud platforms, APIs, authentication, data security and privacy.
- The ability to work independently in a fast-moving start-up and balance delivery speed with quality.
- Australian east coast location, preferably Sydney, and full Australian work rights.

Team leadership, mentoring and mobile development experience, particularly iOS, will be valued. Why consider this role
