Aurora - AT Group
Mount Waverley
AT Group is seeking an experienced Senior Operations Manager to lead and strengthen our retail, distribution and service operations across Melbourne and Sydney.
Working directly with the business owner, you will improve systems, develop capable teams and progressively assume broader responsibility for day-to-day business management. This is a long-term leadership opportunity with potential progression to General Manager.
About AT Group
AT Group is an Australian appliance distribution and retail business spanning importing, warehousing, wholesale distribution, retail showrooms, and the coordination of installation and after-sales services.
FOTILE is a core brand within our business, alongside our development of additional brands, product categories and sales channels. This position is with AT Group and covers the wider business, including our FOTILE operations.
We are strengthening the people, processes and systems that will support our next stage of growth.
The role
You will take responsibility for the performance and coordination of daily operations across our stores, warehouses, distribution and customer service functions.
Your focus will be on building a reliable, accountable operation: accurate stock information, clear responsibilities, effective systems and consistent follow-through from customer order to delivery, installation and after-sales support.
You will work closely with teams in stores and warehouses, understand how work happens on the ground, and lead improvements through to implementation. The role requires someone who can move comfortably between operational detail, people management and commercial decisions.
Over time, you will assume increasing responsibility for running daily operations, enabling the owner to focus on strategy, brand partnerships and growth. Progression to General Manager will depend on performance, demonstrated leadership and business needs.
Key responsibilities
- Lead operations across locations. Coordinate store, warehouse, administration and service teams, establish priorities and ensure commitments are delivered.
- Strengthen inventory accuracy and control. Improve receiving, stock transfers, stocktakes, serial-number tracking, dispatch and returns,
with reliable reconciliation between physical stock and business systems.
- Improve the complete order process. Establish clear controls and ownership from sales order creation through fulfilment, installation and financial reconciliation.
- Simplify and connect business systems. Lead practical improvements across POS, inventory, accounting and CRM platforms, reducing duplicate entry, improving data quality and introducing practical automation.
- Develop managers and team accountability. Clarify responsibilities, coach team leaders, set measurable expectations and address performance issues constructively.
- Build consistent ways of working. Implement practical procedures, training and escalation pathways that teams understand and follow.
- Improve delivery, installation and after-sales coordination. Strengthen scheduling, communication with service partners, complaint resolution and visibility of outstanding work.
- Manage supply and replenishment. Work with suppliers and internal teams on purchasing, import schedules, stock availability and ageing inventory.
- Bring commercial discipline to operations. Work with finance to monitor operating costs, stock investment, margins and channel profitability, supported by accurate and timely reporting.
- Support business expansion. Prepare the processes, people and capacity needed for new products, locations and retail or wholesale partnerships.
- Maintain safe and responsible operations. Embed appropriate workplace safety practices, stock controls and operational compliance across stores and warehouses.
About you
You have demonstrated experience leading operations in a business involving physical products, inventory and customer fulfilment. Your background may include appliance distribution, consumer goods, importing, wholesale, retail or a related industry.
You will bring
- Experience managing multiple locations and leading managers or team leaders across different functions.
- Measurable achievements in inventory accuracy, fulfilment performance, cost control or operational efficiency.
- Experience building structure and improving processes in an owner-led or growing business.
- Strong commercial judgement and confidence working with budgets, margins, stock investment and management reporting.
- Practical experience improving ERP, inventory, POS or CRM workflows and helping teams adopt new ways of working.
- The ability to investigate problems, make sound decisions and follow improvements through to completion.
- Clear communication and confidence working with frontline staff, suppliers, service partners and business owners.
- A long-term interest in developing the business and taking on broader leadership responsibility.
Experience with Cin7, Lightspeed, MYOB or Salesforce would be useful; comparable systems experience is equally relevant. Mandarin language skills would be advantageous for communication with some suppliers and team members, but are not essential.
What success looks like
During your first 6–12 months, priorities will include:
- Establishing reliable inventory reporting and a disciplined process for resolving discrepancies.
- Improving consistency across order processing, dispatch, installation and after-sales support.
- Creating clear ownership of decisions, tasks and unresolved issues.
- Introducing concise reporting on operational performance, service and costs.
- Developing team leaders who can manage routine decisions independently.
- Reducing the need for the owner’s involvement in everyday operational troubleshooting.
Specific targets will be agreed after reviewing the business and establishing performance baselines.
How to apply
Please submit your CV and a brief introduction outlining:
1. The size and type of operation you have managed, including locations and team responsibilities.
2. An operational improvement you personally led and the measurable result.
3. Your experience working with a business owner and assuming broader management responsibility.
We welcome applications from experienced operations leaders who want to make a lasting contribution and grow with the business.
