Baazar (baazar.com.au) is a Melbourne-based online grocery platform delivering halal meat, rice, spices and South Asian pantry staples to homes across Melbourne. We are a rapid-moving startup that runs on technology: our own website, a live product and order database, and an in-house AI operating system that helps us understand sales, profit, customers and marketing.

Role Description

This is an on-site Technology & AI Innovation Intern role based in Melbourne, VIC.

The intern will work alongside the founder across supervised projects in AI systems, IT, data, automation, website improvement and digital marketing. You will see how an e-commerce startup is built and run end to end, and get hands-on exposure to how AI is used in a real business every day.

This internship suits a motivated student or recent graduate who wants practical learning experience in AI, technology, data and startup operations.

The role is designed as a learning-focused internship with supervision, guidance and structured tasks.

Key Responsibilities

- Learn and support our in-house AI operating system (AI agents for analytics, profit, CRM and marketing)
- Help test, document and improve AI workflows and prompts
- Support website improvements, product listings and user testing, with bug reporting and feedback notes
- Work with data: SQL queries, reports, dashboards and basic analytics on sales and customers
- Assist with automation of repetitive business tasks (email, reporting, data clean-up)
- Support IT tasks: tools setup, integrations, APIs and basic system checks




- Help with digital marketing tech: Meta ads reporting, email campaigns, tracking and analytics
- Research AI tools, platforms and software that could help the business grow
- Prepare user guides, workflow notes and process documentation
- Take part in day-to-day startup operations to understand how the business runs

Qualifications

- Currently studying or recently completed a qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Business Analytics or a related field
- Strong interest in AI, automation, data and startups
- Basic understanding of websites, databases or digital tools
- Familiarity with Python, SQL, JavaScript/TypeScript, Supabase/PostgreSQL, Power BI, GitHub, ChatGPT/Claude or similar tools is an advantage
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Organised, proactive, reliable and willing to learn
- University projects, GitHub work, dashboards or AI side projects are helpful but not required

- Commitment: Minimum 3 days per week
- Duration: 3 months
- Start date: Flexible
- This is an unpaid, learning-focused internship
- Supervision, mentoring from the founder and structured learning tasks will be provided
- Certificate of completion and reference letter for successful interns
- Potential pathway to a paid role may be considered after the internship, based on performance, business needs and role availability
