Company Description
Are you ready to be a big part of something big? At carsales, we’re all about making buying and selling a great experience. Since 1997, we’ve been evolving with the current economy to help people choose how they move today and tomorrow.
When it comes to your career, we want to offer meaningful opportunities that empower you to make a lasting impact. But for that to happen, we strive to feel small - small enough to stay agile, learn across teams, and connect authentically with each other.
With a vision to be the global leader in online vehicle marketplaces, we’re transforming how people buy and sell across the world. We discover new ideas and bring them to life. We continue to grow, and we continue to evolve- and we’re not afraid to take bold steps to get there.
We embrace hybrid working combining the flexibility of work from home with the energy and connection of in-person collaboration. We champion flexibility and offer a range of policies and leave options to support your wellbeing.
What’s on offer:
- A place where you can move your career forward, where you’ll be continuously backed to make new ideas happen, and the chance to do work that makes real, significant impact in the world.
- We’re proud to be recognised as one of Australia’s Best Workplaces™ by Great Place to Work®, a Family Friendly Workplace, a WORK180 endorsed employer for women.
- The support of a highly engaged, high-performing team including a leadership team that’s you’ll actually have face time with.
- 24 weeks paid parental leave for primary caregivers, four weeks paid secondary caregivers leave, six weeks paid gender transition leave
About the Retail team In the Retail team, we build the services and experiences behind the buying and selling journey on one of Australia’s largest automotive marketplaces.
We’re a team of product engineers who own features end to end, from the interface through to the services behind it. This is a product engineering role with a front-end focus. You’ll spend most of your time building features in React or Angular with TypeScript and Node.js, and you’ll work regularly with our .NET services. It isn’t a design-system or UI-specialist role.
What you'll do
- Build product features end to end, from React or Angular interfaces in TypeScript to the Node.js services behind them
- Work with our .NET APIs and services, and take on more of the back end as you grow
- Take work from a ticket to production, thinking through the approach before you write the code
- Write tests as you build, and help keep our code easy to change
- Be involved in all aspects of software engineering practice, including breaking down work, code review, testing, source control and build processes
- Work with product and design to understand the customer problem behind the work
- Create and enhance team culture by sharing your knowledge and ideas, and by giving and receiving constructive feedback
Qualifications
What we're looking for
- 3+ years of commercial experience building product features in React or Angular with TypeScript
- Hands-on experience building and consuming APIs with Node.js
- Experience with back-end services in C#/.NET or Java, and the appetite to work in our .NET services
- A clear problem-solving approach and good testing habits, using tools such as Jest, Vitest or Playwright
- Inclusive and interpersonal attributes that connect you to our behaviours: we change the game, we own it, we step in, we are curious, and we don’t take ourselves too seriously
Nice to have
- Experience at an e-commerce or online marketplace business
- Deploying and running services on AWS
- CI/CD and infrastructure as code
We know not everyone will meet every requirement, and that’s okay. If you’re excited about the role and believe you can make a difference, we’d love to hear from you.
