Immigration Lawyer/Registered Migration Agent
Virtue Family & Property Lawyers – Brisbane CBD, QLD
Full-time | $100,000 – $150,000 + Commission
About Virtue Family & Property Lawyers
Virtue Family & Property Lawyers is a small, ambitious law firm based in Brisbane CBD, practising across migration, property and family law. We are backed by an established migration and professional services business with a strong referral network. As our practice grows, we are looking for an experienced migration lawyer or registered migration agent to deliver practical advice and a high standard of client service.
About the Role
This full-time, hybrid role suits a practitioner who can manage migration matters from initial consultation through to outcome, exercise sound skilled judgement and communicate clearly with clients.
We welcome applications from either suitably qualified migration lawyers or registered migration agents; you do not need to hold both qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess clients' circumstances, identify suitable visa pathways and provide clear advice on eligibility, evidence, risks and next steps.
- Prepare, lodge and manage visa applications across relevant areas, including student, graduate, partner, family, visitor, skilled and employer-sponsored visas.
- Manage employer sponsorship and nomination matters, including DAMA endorsement and associated applications where relevant.
- Assist with student visa refusals, other visa refusals, proposed visa cancellations, cancellation responses and review matters within your professional authorisation and experience.
- Research migration legislation and policy, prepare well-supported submissions and respond to requests for further information.
- Liaise with clients, employers, the Department of Home Affairs and other relevant bodies.
- Maintain accurate records, manage deadlines and provide timely updates throughout each matter.
- Work with colleagues, support and mentor junior staff where appropriate, and contribute to consistent file management and quality assurance.
- Build trusted client and referral relationships and contribute to the growth of the migration practice.
About You
- Either a migration lawyer with a current Australian practising certificate appropriate to the role, or a registered migration agent with current OMARA registration.
- Demonstrated experience managing Australian migration matters and the ability to take ownership of a caseload appropriate to your experience and authorisation.
- Strong research, drafting and analytical skills, with careful attention to evidence and detail.
- Clear, empathetic communication and the ability to explain complex issues in practical terms.
- Excellent organisation, deadline management and professional judgement.
- A commitment to ethical practice, confidentiality and high-quality client service.

Desirable Experience
- Employer-sponsored migration, sponsorships and nominations, including DAMA matters.
- Student visa refusals, visa cancellation responses and complex submissions.
- Migration Manager, LEAP or comparable practice management systems.
- Mentoring junior staff and developing client or referral relationships.
What We Offer
- Salary of $100,000–$150,000 per year, commensurate with experience, plus commission opportunities.
- Bring your existing clients and referral relationships, build your client base within the firm and earn commission on work you introduce, with arrangements agreed individually.
- Hybrid working with a Brisbane CBD office on Creek Street.
- Autonomy over your caseload, within applicable professional supervision requirements.
- Access to an established migration referral network.
- The opportunity to help develop the migration practice and grow with the firm.
Application Process
Apply through SEEK with your CV and a brief cover letter outlining your migration experience, current practising certificate or migration agent registration, and the types of matters you have managed. Please include your availability to commence.
