About the Role

Chipmunks Playland & Café Everton Park is looking for an experienced, energetic and hands-on Store Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day operations, staff management and overall performance of our venue.

We are looking for someone who can lead a team, manage hospitality operations, work hands-on in the café and kitchen, coordinate birthday parties and identify opportunities to grow the business.

This is not a desk-based management position.

The successful candidate will be expected to work operational shifts alongside the existing team, particularly during quieter weekdays, helping maintain productivity and control labour costs.

You will also take ownership of business performance, staff development, customer experience, events and venue growth.

Key Responsibilities

1. Daily Operations & Hands-On Hospitality

- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the venue.

- Prepare coffees and operate the coffee machine.

- Assist with kitchen operations and food preparation.

- Handle front counter operations and customer service.

- Assist with birthday party hosting and coordination.

- Work alongside the existing team during operational shifts.

- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation and food safety.

- Lead by example and ensure smooth daily operations.

2. Staff Management & Leadership

- Manage and supervise a team of approximately 10–15 casual employees.

- Prepare and manage weekly staff rosters.

- Monitor staff attendance, performance and productivity.

- Recruit, onboard, train and develop new team members.

- Ensure appropriate staffing levels during weekends, busy periods and school holidays.

- Build a positive, accountable and customer-focused team culture.

3. Business & Financial Performance

- Take ownership of the venue's daily performance.

- Monitor sales, labour costs and operational expenses.

- Manage stock ordering, inventory and supplier relationships.





- Identify opportunities to increase revenue and profitability.

- Drive birthday party bookings and general play admissions.

- Implement strategies to improve weekday and weekend foot traffic.

- Ensure efficient use of staff resources and control unnecessary labour costs.

4. Birthday Parties & Customer Experience

- Oversee birthday party bookings and preparations.

- Ensure parties are delivered to a high standard.

- Handle customer enquiries, complaints and feedback professionally.

- Ensure every customer receives a friendly welcome and excellent service.

- Encourage positive Google reviews and improve the venue's reputation.

5. Events, Promotions & Business Development

- Take initiative to organise events and activities throughout the year.

- Plan seasonal activities for Christmas, Easter, Halloween and school holidays.

- Organise special events such as discos, character appearances, craft activities and themed days.

- Develop creative promotions to attract new customers and encourage repeat visits.

- Build relationships with local schools, childcare centres and community groups.

- Identify new business opportunities and implement ideas that generate additional revenue.

6. Basic Marketing & Content Creation

- Assist with taking photos and recording short videos of venue activities, events and promotions when required.

- Capture birthday party setups, special events and school holiday activities.

- Provide content to support the business's Facebook and Instagram promotions.

About You – Essential Requirements





- Previous hospitality experience is essential.

- Experience in a Store Manager, Venue Manager or Hospitality Supervisor position is highly regarded.

- Current Food Safety Certificate.

- Current First Aid and CPR qualifications.

- Confident making coffees and assisting with kitchen operations and food preparation.

- Experience managing staff and preparing weekly rosters.

- Excellent communication, leadership and customer service skills.

- IT literate and confident using POS systems, computers and online booking platforms.

- Robust organisational and time-management skills.

- Creative thinker with the ability to organise events and develop business opportunities.

- Ability to work independently, take initiative and resolve problems.

- Friendly, energetic and welcoming personality with a genuine passion for working in a family-focused environment.

- Must be available to work weekends, public holidays and during school holiday periods.

Salary & Performance Bonuses

$70,000–$80,000 + Superannuation + Performance-Based Bonuses

Additional performance bonuses will be available for:

- Achieving or exceeding agreed business sales targets.

- Increasing birthday party bookings and overall revenue.

- Successfully organising events that generate additional business.

- Improving customer satisfaction and Google reviews.

- Maintaining strong staff performance and operational standards.

- Improving overall venue performance and profitability.
