Assistant Accountant – In-House Finance
Melbourne | $100,000 inclusive of Super | Immediate Start
Looking to move into an in-house Accounting role?
Are you an experienced Assistant Accountant looking for a varied, hands‑on role within an internal finance function?
QIX Consulting Group is recruiting an Assistant Accountant – Corporate Finance for an opportunity offering exposure across accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, reconciliations and financial reporting.
This is an excellent chance for someone seeking an industry-focused accounting position rather than a traditional public practice client portfolio role.
With a salary package of $100,000 inclusive of superannuation and an immediate start available, this position would suit a capable, detail-oriented accountant who enjoys responsibility, variety and ownership of their work.
The Role
Working within the internal finance function, you will manage a broad range of day-to-day financial activities, including:
Accounts Receivable & Debtor Management
- Allocate incoming payments and investigate unidentified receipts.
- Liaise with clients regarding outstanding payments and payment arrangements.
- Coordinate with external debt collection agencies.
- Manage direct debit authorities, failed payments and ongoing arrangements.
- Prepare monthly aged debtor reports.
Accounts Payable
- Process supplier invoices and ensure accurate coding and allocation using Hubdoc.
- Coordinate weekly supplier payments and other accounts payable transactions.
Payroll & Banking
- Prepare monthly payroll, including reviewing leave records and salary sacrifice arrangements, for independent checking and authorisation.
- Monitor daily banking transactions and coordinate internal fund transfers as required.
General Accounting & Reporting
- Complete month-end reconciliations, including bank reconciliations and adjustment journals.
- Manage end-to-end bookkeeping and accounts preparation for a small number of internal entities, including income tax returns.
- Prepare monthly revenue reporting across selected business divisions.
- Maintain Xero subscription registers and prepare annual client reimbursement invoices.
- Assist with additional accounting and finance activities as required.
About You
We are looking for someone who combines strong technical accounting skills with excellent attention to detail and the confidence to manage competing priorities.
Ideally, you will bring:
- A degree in Accounting or a related discipline.
- A few years of relevant accounting experience, ideally covering several of the responsibilities outlined above.
- Strong proficiency in Xero and Microsoft Excel (essential).
- Experience with QuickBooks, MYOB or Fathom would be advantageous.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including confidence liaising with clients, external providers and internal stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills, accuracy and the ability to work independently.
CA or CPA qualifications are not required.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
- $100,000 package inclusive of superannuation.
- An in-house finance position with broad accounting exposure.
- A varied role encompassing transactional accounting, payroll, reconciliations and reporting.
- The opportunity to take ownership of key financial processes.
- Immediate start available.
If you're an Assistant Accountant looking to build on your experience in a hands‑on, industry-focused finance role, we'd love to hear from you.
