Innova Water Pty Ltd is a specialist process and hydraulic design consultancy working exclusively on water and wastewater infrastructure. We deliver treatment plants, pump stations, pipelines and recycled water systems across Australia's east coast, from design through construction, commissioning and handover.

About the Role
We are seeking an Engineering Technologist to join our Brisbane team. You will analyse, adapt and apply established water and wastewater treatment technologies to client projects. Your focus will be the testing, commissioning and implementation of process systems, working alongside our Senior Process Engineer and multidisciplinary design teams. This is a hands-on role combining office-based technical work with regular site and commissioning activity.

Key Responsibilities

Technology application and technical analysis

- Analyse existing treatment processes and equipment, and modify and adapt proven technologies to suit project requirements and site conditions
- Apply engineering principles to solve technical problems in treatment, pumping and hydraulic systems
- Perform equipment sizing and selection checks for pumps, blowers, valves and process equipment against design criteria
- Prepare and update PFDs, P&IDs; and mass balances, and carry out supporting process and hydraulic calculations under the direction of the Senior Process Engineer
- Review vendor submissions and equipment data for technical compliance

Testing, commissioning and implementation

- Prepare commissioning plans, test procedures and Proof of Performance (PoP) plans
- Carry out on-site testing, commissioning, performance verification and fault finding
- Monitor system performance against specification, and recommend and implement modifications




- Conduct site inspections and provide technical support to contractors during construction and start-up

Documentation and coordination

- Prepare functional descriptions and process control philosophies
- Prepare technical specifications, O&M; manuals, SOPs and operator training materials
- Coordinate with civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and controls disciplines, and respond to RFIs and technical queries
- Participate in HAZOP, CHAIR and CHAZOP workshops, and attend client meetings and design reviews

About You

Essential

- Bachelor of Engineering Technology (or an equivalent qualification at AQF Level 7) in chemical, environmental, civil or a related discipline
- At least 3 years' experience in water, wastewater or a closely related process industry
- Practical experience in testing, commissioning and fault finding on treatment or pumping systems
- Ability to prepare and interpret PFDs, P&IDs; and process calculations
- Experience writing functional descriptions, control philosophies or commissioning documentation
- Basic AutoCAD drafting proficiency
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and confidence dealing with clients and contractors
- Willingness to undertake site work and short periods of travel

Highly regarded

- Eligibility for membership of Engineers Australia as an Engineering Technologist
- Experience with treatment plants, pump stations, pipelines or recycled water systems
- Consultancy or construction/project delivery background
- Experience with process modelling or hydraulic software

Working Arrangements

- Based in Ascot (Brisbane inner north), predominantly office-based
- Up to 1 day per week working from home
- Short periods of site work throughout the year
