The role

Our client is a PE-backed industrial and commercial services business with three business units. It was recently acquired by a private equity firm and is in an active growth phase.

There's a new leadership team in place, and an ambitious agenda for company growth in place.

Each business unit has its own Finance Business Partner, who feeds financials up to corporate.

Our client is looking to bring in a Finance Business Partner for a 6-to012 month engagement, reporting to a GM. Applicants interested in a permanent role are also welcome to apply.

The role is based in Melbourne.

What You’ll Do

- Partner with the General Manager to shape and challenge the business unit’s plans and performance
- Analyse financial and operational performance and turn it into clear recommendations
- Challenge assumptions, budgets and investment proposals with independent financial judgement




- Build financial models and business cases to support commercial decisions
- Tell the story behind the numbers to senior stakeholders in explicit, plain terms
- Own budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis for the business unit, and feed financials up to corporate
- Identify cost, margin and revenue opportunities and risks
- Set the KPIs and performance reviews that hold business leaders to account

What This Role Is Not

This is not a bookkeeping role. It is a strategic finance seat focused on analysis, challenging the business and storytelling.

What We’re Looking For

- Finance experience at likely Senior Manager level (Big 4 equivalent)
- Strategic finance and commercial business partnering experience
- Autonomy to be self-directed and drive your own analysis end to end without junior support
- Gravitas to engage senior stakeholders internally and test the numbers and assumptions you are given
- Ability to present financial results clearly and tell the story behind the numbers
