About the role

Best Brains is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Abacus and Coding Teacher to join our team in Melton VIC. This is a part-time position that offers the perfect opportunity for educators passionate about developing young learners' mathematical reasoning and computational thinking skills. You will play a vital role in delivering engaging, interactive lessons that inspire children to develop confidence in problem-solving and logical thinking. This position is integral to our mission of nurturing the next generation of mathematically-minded and tech-savvy students.

What we're looking for

- Proven experience teaching Abacus to primary-aged students, demonstrating a strong understanding of the methodology and its benefits for mental arithmetic development
- Experience in teaching coding or computer science to children, with knowledge of beginner-friendly programming platforms (such as Scratch, Python or similar)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts in easy, engaging terms appropriate to different age groups
- Patience, empathy and a genuine enthusiasm for working with children and supporting their learning journey
- Ability to create structured lesson plans and adapt teaching methods to suit individual learning styles
- Organisational skills and attention to detail in record-keeping and progress tracking
- Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain one) as required by Australian educational standards
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Education, Mathematics or Computer Science are highly desirable
- Previous tutoring or teaching experience in an educational setting is preferred
