About the role
Being a receptionist in an allied health clinic is a serious and confidential role. At Supersaurus, we add a twist: dinosaurs! We are seeking someone who can greet every client with a warm smile and a calm, steady presence. Many of our clients find appointments daunting, so a welcoming front desk makes a real difference. Our ideal receptionist makes people feel valued and at ease while keeping interactions brief, quiet and discreet.
Supersaurus is a multidisciplinary practice in Tamworth, NSW. We aim to ease anxiety about therapy by making it fun. Supersaurus is a place for people who feel they don't fit in or feel disconnected from those around them. Here they can find their tribe and feel supported.
This is a Permanent Part-Time position.
Creating a Welcoming Environment
The receptionist sets the tone for every visit. This means greeting clients and their families warmly, then giving them space to settle. Our waiting area is designed to be a calm, low-stimulation space, so we keep conversation at the front desk friendly but minimal. You will also keep common areas tidy, organised and comfortable.
Supporting Families and Children
One of the most rewarding parts of the role is helping families feel at ease. You'll gently guide them through how things work here, from checking in to booking their next visit, so they always know what to expect. A friendly smile or a quick dinosaur distraction can make all the difference for a nervous child. We leave the personal questions to our clinicians, so families can simply settle in.
Ensuring Confidentiality
Confidentiality is the cornerstone of this role.
You will handle sensitive information every day, and discretion is essential. This means:
- Never discussing clients, their appointments or their reasons for attending, inside or outside the clinic
- Not confirming whether someone is a client to anyone who is not authorised
- Keeping phone calls, conversations and screens private from others in the waiting area
- Avoiding personal chatter or comments about clients at the front desk
Our clients trust us with their privacy, and protecting it at all times is non-negotiable.
Managing a Diverse Range of Tasks
The role is varied. From scheduling appointments to handling enquiries and supporting the wider team, every day brings something new. Adaptability, attention to detail and a calm approach under pressure are key.
What we're looking for
- Prior experience in customer service or administration, ideally within a healthcare or medical setting
- Warm, professional and concise communication with clients, colleagues and healthcare providers
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritise
- Proficiency with computer systems and office software, including Microsoft Office
- A demonstrated commitment to confidentiality and discretion
- Comfort and ease working around children
Desirable
- Familiarity with or understanding of the NDIS
- Experience with Halaxy or similar practice management platforms
- A passion for and knowledge of dinosaurs!
What we offer
Time Off in Lieu (TOIL)
We value your hard work and commitment. With our TOIL policy, any extra hours worked can be taken as additional leave. Our practice closes for some of the NSW school holidays, and TOIL ensures ongoing paid leave as well as extra time with family.
A Unique Work Environment
Our office is not your typical workplace. We are passionate about dinosaurs and have incorporated this theme into our office culture. With dinosaur-themed spaces, you'll work in a fun and engaging environment that celebrates the prehistoric era.
Salary will be based on the Health Professionals and Support Services Award, Level 3. All applicants will be considered, and junior applicants (18+ years) are encouraged to apply. We will offer training and support to the right candidate.
