Sydney Creative is a busy craft studio in Redfern running paint and sip, candle making, sewing, jewellery making and more. We’re looking for a fun, vibrant artist to join our team and host our paint and sip workshops.

This role is only half about painting

The right person for this role is someone who can confidently paint, and also bring the energy. You’ll be hosting a room full of people, many of whom haven’t picked up a brush since school, and making sure every one of them has a brilliant time and leaves proud of what they’ve made.

That means you:

- Bring the fun. You’re bubbly, warm and naturally great at getting a room laughing and relaxed
- Have the confidence to lead a room and project your voice, whether it’s 10 people or a hens party of 30+
- Can break a painting down into simple steps anyone can follow
- Know when to help and when to step back. Some guests want guidance at every step, while others just want to do their own thing, and you can read the difference
- Encourage guests to make their painting their own, rather than painting it for them
- Keep an eye on the whole room, spotting anyone who’s losing confidence or falling behind
- Can keep the energy up while keeping the class on track and finishing on time
- Can be fun but firm when needed, including enforcing studio policies and handling the occasional lively guest professionally

If you’ve hosted events, performed, taught, or worked in hospitality or customer-facing roles, that experience counts just as much as your painting skills.

About the role

You’ll host our public paint and sip classes, including textured painting and plant pot painting, as well as private events like hens parties, birthdays and corporate team building. Most classes run at our Redfern studio, with occasional mobile workshops and offsite events across Sydney, some for groups of 50 or more.

This role doesn’t have a fixed weekly roster. Shifts vary depending on bookings, and will include:

- Some weekday daytime sessions, mainly corporate team building
- Some Friday nights




- Some Saturday afternoons and evenings

Some weeks you may have several shifts and other weeks fewer, so this role suits someone with flexible availability.

The studio is generally open on weekday evenings and all day on weekends, so please make sure evening and weekend work suits your lifestyle before applying.

As well as hosting, you’ll set up and pack down the studio, prepare paints and materials, clean brushes and equipment, and help keep stock up to date.

There are opportunities to train in our other creative classes for the right person.

Key responsibilities

- Host fun, engaging paint and sip workshops for groups of all sizes
- Introduce each class, demonstrate each step clearly and guide guests through their painting
- Support guests of all abilities so everyone has a fantastic experience
- Run private events, including hens parties, birthdays and corporate team building
- Run occasional mobile workshops at client locations
- Prepare materials and set up the studio before each class
- Pack down and reset the studio between sessions
- Assist with stock management
- Keep the studio clean, organised and looking its best

About you

- A confident painter with acrylic experience, and bonus if you’ve worked with texture or palette knife techniques
- Vibrant, outgoing and genuinely love being around people
- Not afraid of public speaking, and able to hold a room’s attention with confidence
- Comfortable hosting hens parties and private events
- Happy to stay on your feet and on the studio floor for the whole class, so guests always feel comfortable asking for help
- Happy to appear in photos and videos for our social media
- Proactive and able to spot what needs doing without being asked
- Organised,



punctual and reliable

The details

- Casual
- $32-40 per hour + super, depending on experience
- Classes run from our studio at 140 Regent St, Redfern, with occasional mobile and offsite events across Sydney
