Moonlight Japanese is looking for an experienced, confident and genuinely hospitable Front of House team member to join our crew on a casual basis.

We’re a small, intimate Japanese restaurant in the heart of Byron Bay, with a strong focus on great food, drinks and — most importantly — genuine hospitality. We’re looking for someone who knows how to bring great energy to a service and make guests feel properly looked after.

About the role

You’ll be working across our floor and restaurant operations, including:

- Delivering warm, attentive and knowledgeable table service

- Taking orders and confidently guiding guests through our food and drinks menu

- Running food and drinks while maintaining strong table awareness

- Setting up and closing down the venue

- Working closely with the kitchen, bar and management team throughout service

- Maintaining a clean, organised and polished restaurant

- Building rapport with guests and creating memorable experiences

- Supporting the wider team wherever needed — we’re a small venue, so teamwork is everything

About you

We’d love to hear from you if you:

- Have at least 1-2 years of hospitality experience , ideally in a busy restaurant workplace

- Are confident carrying plates, taking orders and managing a section

- Have a genuine interest in food, wine, sake, cocktails and hospitality





- Are comfortable learning detailed menus and talking to guests about what we offer

- Have a big personality while still understanding when service needs to be polished and professional

- Are reliable, punctual and able to take initiative

- Stay calm and positive when service gets busy

- Understand that great hospitality is about the little things

- Enjoy being part of a close-knit team and are happy to jump in and help wherever needed

- Hold a current NSW RSA

Experience with Japanese food, sake or wine is a bonus, but definitely not essential — we can teach you the menu; we’re more interested in finding the right person.
