Senior Small Engine Mechanic – Full-Time

Henderson Mowers is a leading outdoor power equipment retailer and authorised service centre, supporting residential, commercial, and industrial customers across Victoria and beyond. We are seeking an experienced and qualified Small Engine Mechanic to join our workshop team on a full-time basis.

This role is ideally suited to a mechanic who takes pride in diagnosing and repairing equipment efficiently, maintaining high standards, and keeping jobs moving without compromising quality.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Senior Small Engine Mechanic at Henderson Mowers, you will work across a diverse range of petrol, diesel, and battery-powered equipment. The machinery you service ranges in value from approximately $150 to $70,000, offering real variety and technical challenge.

We service and repair equipment from leading brands including Toro, Honda, Stihl, MTD, Cub Cadet, and more. Henderson Mowers is also expanding into quad bikes and UTV vehicles, including Segway products. Experience in this area is advantageous but not essential.

WHAT SETS THIS ROLE APART

We are currently building a new, purpose-designed workshop facility, scheduled to be operational in Q3 2026, featuring:

- Dedicated individual work bays
- Multiple vehicle and equipment hoists
- A wash bay for proper pre- and post-service workflow
- Improved layout to support faster turnaround times and better job flow

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Diagnose and repair petrol, diesel, and battery-powered equipment efficiently
- Manage servicing and repair jobs with a focus on turnaround time and quality
- Work across mowers, outdoor power equipment, quad bikes, and UTVs




- Maintain accurate service records and job documentation
- Uphold workshop cleanliness, safety, and professional standards
- Communicate clearly with customers regarding faults, repairs, and timelines
- Support a productive team environment and lead by example

ABOUT YOU

- Formal qualification as a Small Engine Mechanic (essential)
- Strong hands-on experience with petrol and diesel engines
- Passion for fixing equipment properly and efficiently
- Organised, disciplined, punctual, and reliable
- Robust written and verbal communication skills
- Confident using computers for job management and parts lookup
- Experience with battery-powered equipment
- Experience with quad bikes or UTVs (advantageous)
- Current, valid driver’s licence
- Ability to provide work-related references

EMPLOYMENT DETAILS

- Full-Time position
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
- Lunch break: 1 hour
- Pay rate: $30 – $39 per hour, based on experience and capability
- Start date: Within the next few weeks
- Opportunities to work Saturdays at penalty rates if required.
