Position: Performance Content Creator
Reports to: Head of Marketing
Location: Anywhere in Australia, with the occasional trip to our factory in Melbourne
Employment: Trial leading to Full time
Start Date: Immediate
Salary: $75k-$95k
I’m Oscar, and Good Riddance started from when I was 8 years old, waking up at 2am scratching my mozzie bites. My Mum hated spraying me with DEET and so decided to make her own natural repellent that actually works. We’ve grown from our caravan’s kitchen back in 2012, to one of Australia’s biggest repellent brands, and I now run the marketing. We’re hiring a full time Performance Content Creator to help us build our brand, create scroll stopping content, tell stories that sell, all while speaking directly to our target audience of mozzie magnets.
About Good Riddance
In 2009, my Mum and Dad quit their jobs, and took me and my brother around Australia in a caravan. We were living the dream, but my brother and I were mozzie magnets. Our mum got sick of spraying us down with disgusting DEET sprays every day, so she studied cosmetic chemistry and started making her own 100% natural repellent. It took two years and 37 failed formulas before she cracked a formula that not only works but is actually nice to use.
In 2014, she started selling it from a stall at the Mindil Beach Markets in Darwin. Today, we’re sold in 2,500+ stores across Australia, have hundreds of thousands of customers, and we’ve just been nationally ranged in Woolworths (we’re the only natural repellent on their shelf btw).
This year we’re becoming the Australian household name for repellent. Then next year, we’re expanding globally.
We’re on a mission to lead Aussies back outside, connecting with nature, without the harsh chemicals. A family business that started in a caravan, up against the big DEET brands.
Every repellent we sell is a chance to inspire people to connect with, and care for, the environment. As a 1% for the Planet member, we also give back to conserve the places we're getting people out to enjoy. For you, this means creating content that inspires people to fall back in love with the outdoors.
This is where you come in
We're looking for a self motivated creator to make content that tells stories, connects with Aussies and converts. You’re comfortable picking up an iPhone to create something yourself, in front of the camera and behind it. You'll be ideating, scripting, starring in, shooting and editing content that makes people stop scrolling, and start itching to get back outside, not itching their bites.
This summer, millions of Aussies are going to see our ads, and you’ll have the prospect to help build a household brand. We've got the Brand, strategy and systems that let you move rapidly, fail fast, and most importantly, help you learn as much as you can.
What we need is the person who brings our brand to life,
AND also loves knowing and learning what makes content perform as much as they love creating it.
We don’t just want more content. Good Riddance is THEbrand that is getting Australia back outside in nature with content that converts excitement into action.
We're not after someone to just shoot our shot list, and this isn't a videographer role. Organic, natural and authentic iPhone-style footage beats over-polished work for the feel we’re after.
Who you’ll work with
- Me, Oscar (Head of Marketing). I lead the strategy, team, and direction.
- Chris Radloff, Ads & Creative Strategist. Ex-Head of Paid Media @ Lucent Globe, a brand built on story selling.
- Together, we know the ads and the strategy. We're missing the creative leader.
Who I’m looking for
A self starter. Someone who can own the creative, can ideate stories, and make repellent something people actually get excited about.
And…someone who is excited to disrupt an industry.
1. A storyteller and a marketer
You care what stories are told, and you also love to see what sells and the why behind what’s working. You care more about what worksthan pretty.
2. You’re comfortable on camera & editing
You're confident using Premiere Pro, CapCut and Canva, and you're equally comfortable picking up an iPhone to capture something yourself. You already make content, whether that’s TikTok, Reels or UGC-style ads, and you’re happy being IN it, not just behind it. Talking to camera, showing the product in action, acting out a funny idea, you’re all over it.
3. Self starter
You don’t need years of experience or a degree. Volume and learning speed matter more. Someone who i
