About the Role:
As a
Deli Assistant
, you will be responsible for preparing, presenting, and serving a wide range of delicatessen items including sliced meats, cheeses, antipasto, and other gourmet goods. You'll work closely with your team to ensure the deli section is well-stocked, clean, and running smoothly throughout the day, while delivering outstanding service to every customer.
This role is ideal for someone with a passion for fresh food, excellent attention to detail, and strong customer service skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Delivering friendly and knowledgeable
customer service
at the deli counter
Slicing, cutting, and grating
a range of smallgoods and cheeses to order
Preparing and packaging deli products for display and sale
Ensuring product displays are
visually appealing
, clean, and well-stocked




Assisting with
stock rotation
, labelling, and checking use-by dates
Maintaining
high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
in all food prep areas
Operating deli equipment safely and efficiently (slicers, graters, scales, etc.)
Following all
food safety
,
handling
, and
OH&S; procedures
Working as part of a team to ensure smooth daily operations and a positive work environment
About You:
We're looking for candidates who are enthusiastic, reliable, and take pride in delivering quality food and customer service.
The ideal candidate will have:
Minimum
6 months of deli or food retail experience
Confidence using
deli-specific equipment
such as slicers and graters
A
basic knowledge of smallgoods and cheeses
, or a willingness to learn
Strong
awareness of food safety and hygiene practices
Ability to work both
independently and as part of a team
Great communication skills and a
customer-first mindset
Good physical fitness, including the ability to stand for long periods
Availability to work
early mornings, weekends, and public holidays
as required
