Working closely with Mine Operations, Geology and Technical Services teams, you will contribute to maximising productivity, operational efficiency and value from the mining process.With a strong background in open pit drill and blast operations, you will bring proven leadership capability, technical expertise and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.Key ResponsibilitiesLead drill and blast activities to safely achieve production targets in line with the mine planDevelop and oversee blast designs to optimise fragmentation and minimise dilutionCoordinate drilling schedules and blasting activities to meet operational requirementsManage drill and blast contractors to ensure safe, efficient and compliant performanceOversee explosives management including storage, transport, handling and reconciliationEnsure compliance with relevant Queensland mining and explosives legislationMonitor blast performance and implement continuous improvement initiativesManage blasting risks including misfires, flyrock, exclusion zones and blast fumesCollaborate with Geology,



Mine Planning and Operations teams to optimise outcomesLead incident investigations and implement corrective and preventative actionsManage budgets relating to drilling, explosives and blasting servicesMentor and develop Drill & Blast Engineers and SupervisorsAbout YouDegree qualification in Mining Engineering or a related disciplineExtensive experience in drill and blast operations within open pit mining environmentsStrong knowledge of blast design, fragmentation optimisation and explosives managementProven experience managing contractors and operational mining teamsSound understanding of Queensland mining and explosives legislationQueensland Shotfirer Licence or ability to obtain highly regardedCurrent mining supervisor competencies including RIIRIS301E, RIIWHS301E and RIICOM301EExperience using mine planning and blast design software such as Surpac, Vulcan, BlastLogic or similarStrong analytical, planning and problem-solving capabilitiesDemonstrated leadership, communication and stakeholder management skillsCurrent Class C Driver's LicenceWhy Join This Prospect?
