This role plays a critical part in Mackay Sugar's finance team preparing the weekly wages for up to 600 employees during the Crushing Season and approximately 450 employees during the Maintenance Season.With the use of UKG Ready to capture time already implemented, information from UKG is analysed and transferred to SAP where the payroll is calculated and processed.
Major system changes have occurred already and there is an opportunity to optimise processes that have developed as a consequence of these changes.
You are supported by the finance team where there is a payroll officer who prepares salaries and a business trainee learning the payroll process.
You will have demonstrated experience working autonomously in a high-volume payroll environment, meeting tight deadlines and interpreting payroll legislation, industrial awards and enterprise agreements.
Experience with system testing, process improvement, and supporting or coaching junior staff will be highly regarded.

We want people who:Bring a positive attitude and thrive in team settingsPayroll systems experience a MUST (UKG Ready and or SAP Preferred)5 years of end-to-end payroll processing experience with time spent in a high-volume payroll environmentFamiliarity with payroll-related legislation and requirements including industrial awards and enterprise agreements and the ability to understand changesExceptional attention to details and accuracyAbility to work to strict timeframes and deadlinesHigh level problem solving and analytical abilities to resolve payroll and system issuesStrong communication skills and the ability to work with othersKey ResponsibilitiesPrepare and process weekly payrolls using UKG Ready and SAPEnsure employee master data is accurately maintained and updatedProcessing new hires, terminations and changes in employee details which include bulk changes between the maintenance and the crushing seasonsEnsuring reporting obligations are met including the STP, superannuation and internal reportingRespond to employee payroll enquiries and resolve payroll-related issuesAct professionally and always maintain confidentialityProvide accounts payable support, including invoice processing during periods of available capacityCollaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve payroll and system queries efficientlyWhy Join Mackay Sugar?
