About the role

We are seeking a reliable, experienced and hardworking kennel hand to join our team in a job-share arrangement. TASAA is a specialised canine training facility located in beautiful Samford Valley, North Brisbane, approximately 40 minutes by car from Brisbane CBD. Morning shifts commence at 6:00 am and generally finish between 9:00 am and 10:00 am. Some shifts may run later, depending on the number of dogs in our care and the work required. Our facility operates seven days a week. This is a job-share position, so applicants must be willing to share shifts across the weekly roster, including weekends.

Key responsibilities
Provide high-quality daily care, including feeding, exercise, protected handling and monitoring of puppies and dogs
Observe and promptly report changes in health, appetite, toileting, behaviour or general wellbeing
Follow individual animal care instructions, feeding plans and established kennel routines accurately
Clean and disinfect kennels, equipment, training spaces and surrounding facilities to a consistently high standard
Maintain safe, comfortable and hygienic living areas and follow infection-control procedures




Work effectively as part of a team and independently when required, ensuring all tasks are completed on time

About you
Proven practical experience in canine handling and animal husbandry, with a transparent understanding of the day-to-day responsibilities of a kennel hand
Sound understanding of canine body language, behaviour and signs of stress, discomfort or illness
Confidence handling dogs of different ages, breeds, sizes and temperaments
Excellent attention to detail, sound judgement and a genuine commitment to animal welfare
A positive, respectful attitude, explicit communication skills and the initiative to work with minimal supervision
Physical fitness for an active, hands-on role, including safe lifting of up to 20 kg and working in varying weather conditions
Exceptional reliability and punctuality, with availability for early morning and weekend shifts
A current driver's licence and reliable personal transport
