Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West.
It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.

The opportunity
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Control Room Operator to join our Process team at the Karara mine site.
Reporting to the Control Room Supervisor the successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Concentrator Control Room, ensuring compliance with established operating procedures, Secure Working Procedures, and site safety standards.
Strong communication and coordination with field personnel are essential to maintaining safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.
Working on a Full-time8 days on 6 days off and 7 nights on 7 days offroster, FIFO from Perth or DIDO from Geraldton.
To be successful in the role, the following is essential:
Western Australian C Class Driver's LicenceStrong mechanical skills and proficient in written and verbal English communicationAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionCommitment to ongoing improvement and learningExperience with operating PCS systems in a control room environment, with a solid understanding of mineral processingControl system experience within continuous process industriesSkilled in prioritising and managing multiple tasks, with the capability to provide clear guidance to team members in a processing plantNational Police clearance

Key Duties - including but not limited to:
Safely operate and monitor concentrator plant equipment in line with company procedures and operating standardsControl and optimise plant performance across crushing, grinding, magnetic separation, flotation, concentrate and tailings circuitsMaintain compliance with safety, environmental and housekeeping standardsComplete operational reporting and documentation accurately and on timeIdentify operational issues, hazards and opportunities for improvementCollaborate with Metallurgy, Laboratory, Control Systems, Maintenance and Mining teams to support plant performanceCoordinate with contractors during tailings system downtime and maintenance activitiesContribute to safe, efficient and reliable plant operations through teamwork and continuous improvement

About UsLocated 200 km south-east of Geraldton in the Shire of Perenjori, Western Australia Karara has an expected mine life of 30+ years.
The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks.
As part of the logistics network Karara owns and operates 80km of railway between Tilley Junction and the Karara mine site, linking the Karara Export Terminal at the Port of Geraldton, able to handle up to 16 Mtpa of export product from a dedicated berth, with associated rail and train unloading infrastructure.
