Infrastructure Engineer – GPU & Data Centre | Melbourne
Australian Citizen
Are you a hands-on hardware specialist who loves being close to the metal?
I'm partnering with an Australian sovereign AI cloud provider that's building some of the country's most advanced GPU infrastructure, and they're looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to join their foundational team in Melbourne.
This is a rare chance to get in early with a rapid-growing business backed by major industry partners, working on real GPU clusters, real AI factories and real customers.
If you've come from a hyperscaler, large-scale data centre operator or enterprise compute environment and want to take the next step, this one's worth a conversation.
The role
You'll be at the physical layer of the build: racking, cabling, deploying and maintaining the GPU compute nodes, servers and storage that power national AI workloads.
Day to day, you'll:
Deploy, rack, cable and maintain GPU servers, compute nodes and storage across a Melbourne data centre facilitySupport new environment build-outs, including high-density and fibre cabling and commissioning of large-scale NVIDIA GPU clustersHandle hardware troubleshooting, firmware upgrades and lifecycle managementDeploy network and fabric hardware,
including switches and fibre diagnosticsWork with Network and AI Ops engineers to bring compute nodes into productionProvide Level 2 support and help shape the move to 24/7 operations, including runbooks and on-call processesManage hardware incidents and RMAs with tier-one vendorsPick up infrastructure-as-code and automation skills as the team grows
What you'll bring
Hands-on enterprise server experience in a data centre, ideally from a hyperscaler, major operator or large enterpriseA methodical, first-principles approach to troubleshooting and strong documentation habitsWorking Linux admin skills and experience with IPMI, iDRAC or iLOA solid understanding of storage (NVMe, SAN, NAS), compute networking, and data centre power, cooling and cablingExperience with firmware management, diagnostics and vendor RMA processesNetwork/fabric deployment exposure is highly regarded, and GPU or HPC experience (especially NVIDIA) is a big plus
What's in it for you
Hybrid flexibility, splitting your time between the data centre and your preferred work locationHands-on exposure to cutting-edge GPU architectures and liquid-cooled infrastructureA collaborative, inclusive team where you'll help shape how things are built and run from the ground up
