Acacia Environmental Management
Melbourne
Build a career outdoors while helping protect and restore Melbourne's natural environment.
Acacia is seeking motivated Environmental Team Members to join our growing field operations team and work across a diverse range of environmental projects throughout Greater Melbourne.
From the Western Plains and grasslands, through Melbourne's northern and eastern bushland reserves and Upper Yarra catchments, to waterways, parks and conservation areas across the south-east, our teams work in some of Melbourne's most diverse and environmentally significant landscapes.
Whether you are an experienced environmental field worker, a conservation or ecology graduate, have experience in horticulture or land management, or are simply looking to build a career working in the natural environment, we would love to hear from you.
Acacia delivers environmental field works and consulting services across reserves, waterways, parks, open spaces and conservation areas throughout Greater Melbourne and regional Victoria.
Our teams undertake sensitive weed control, ecological restoration, revegetation and vegetation management to protect biodiversity, restore habitat and improve natural environments.
As Acacia continues to grow, we are looking for people who enjoy practical outdoor work, value teamwork and want to contribute to meaningful environmental outcomes.
The opportunity
As an Environmental Team Member, no two days will necessarily look the same.
Depending on your location, skills and the projects underway, you may work across native grasslands, bushland reserves, waterways, wetlands, parks and other significant natural areas throughout Melbourne.
Your work may include:
Ecological restoration and habitat improvement
Weed identification and control
Herbicide application
Revegetation and plant establishment
Native and introduced plant identification
Bushland and vegetation management
Waterway and riparian restoration
Environmental maintenance and site works
Using a range of hand tools, powered equipment and environmental field techniques
You will work as part of an experienced field team with support from Environmental Team Leaders and Acacia's broader operational and technical teams.
This is practical outdoor work and will involve working in changing weather conditions, uneven terrain and physically demanding environments.
About you
We are looking for people who:
Have a genuine interest in conservation, ecological restoration and the natural environment
Work safely and constructively as part of a team
Have a positive attitude and willingness to learn
Communicate respectfully with colleagues, clients and members of the public
Can adapt to different sites, projects and environmental conditions
Hold a current driver's licence and can reliably travel to required work locations
Previous environmental experience is highly regarded, but you do not need to tick every box to apply.
Experience or qualifications in any of the following would be an advantage:
Environmental field work or natural resource management
Conservation and land management
Bushland or native grassland management
Horticulture, landscaping, arboriculture or outdoor labouring
Weed identification and control
Herbicide application
Native and introduced plant identification
Revegetation and ecological restoration
A relevant TAFE or university qualification
ACUP or chemical-use training
Construction Induction Card / White Card
First Aid
Chainsaw, brushcutter or other relevant equipment competencies
Training and development opportunities are available, and we are interested in hearing from both experienced environmental practitioners and people looking to establish themselves in the industry.
Where you could work
Melbourne's western grasslands and plains
Western and northern metropolitan areas
Melbourne's eastern and outer-eastern suburbs
The Yarra Valley and Upper Yarra catchments
Melbourne's south-east
Bushland reserves, waterways, wetlands, parks and open spaces across the wider Melbourne region
While we will aim to match team members with projects and areas that suit where they live, some travel will form part of the role so a licence and car is essential.
What we offer
The prospect to work across some of Greater Melbourne's most significant natural environments
Varied outdoor work with genuine conservation outcomes
Above-award pay
Ongoing training and professional development
Support to develop environmental field and technical skills
Opportunities to progress into Environmental Team Leader, Senior Environmental Team Leader, technical and environmental consulting roles
Experience across a broad range of ecological restoration and land-management projects
A supportive team of people who care about the environment and the work they deliver
Opportunities to build a long-term career within a growing environmental organisation
If you enjoy being outdoors, want your work to contribute to something meaningful and are interested in building a career in environmental management, we'd love to hear from you.
