Salary: $80,000 - $90,000 per year plus superannuation

About Us

Positive Neighbour Cafe is one of Canberra's busiest cafe's. Located in the suburb of Kingston, we are open 7 days a week serving breakfast, lunch, baked goods, coffee and cold drinks. Our core focus is on service, consistency and quality.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

● Prepare and cook dishes according to the cafe’s menu, recipes and quality standards

● Food preperation, including washing, cutting, seasoning, handling and storage

● Operate ovens, grills and other kitchen equipment safely

● Monitor cooking temperatures and times to ensure food is cooked correctly

● Check food quality, flavour, portion sizes and presentation before serving

● Prepare meals for dietary requirements and allergies following kitchen procedures

● Store, label and rotate ingredients correctly to maintain freshness and minimise waste





● Monitor stock levels and report ingredient requirements to the Chef or management

● Maintain, clean and organise workstations, equipment and food storage areas

● Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace safety procedures

● Coordinate with kitchen and front of house staff to ensure timely service

Qualifications and Experience

● A formal qualification relevant to commercial cookery

● More than one year of relevant experience as a Cook or Chef

● Sound knowledge of cooking techniques and safe food handling

● Ability to maintain food quality and consistency during busy service periods

● Good communication, teamwork and time management skill

● Availability to work a roster that may include weekends and public holidays
