IT Systems & Projects Specialist: own the business systems, documentation and reporting side of a major processing plant in Dandenong, Victoria, and carry improvement projects from request to delivery.

About us

Biro Strategy is collaborating with industrial and processing businesses across Australia to bridge skill gaps and facilitate long-term employment opportunities. On this occasion we are recruiting for a major processing plant in Dandenong, Victoria – a large, established 24-hour operation. Standard working terms and conditions are based on industry sector standards, with competitive pay rates.

The opportunity

The site runs on a core plant/production system, supported by an in-house IT team working across two shifts. The business is investing in its systems to support its next phase of growth and automation, and this role has been created to own that work.

This is a mid-level role for an experienced, self-directed systems person who can get on with the operational technology from day one, build the documentation and reporting the business needs, and carry improvement projects from request to delivery – communicating clearly with the production floor, the IT lead and site management. It works alongside the existing IT lead.

Key responsibilities

- Own the site's business systems: ERP, inventory and distribution, maintenance management, lab and QA packages, HR/rostering interfaces and the office productivity platform – first point of contact for system issues and improvements

- Carry improvement and automation projects from request to delivery: scoping,

vendor liaison, testing, cut-over, training and handover

- Build and maintain documentation of the site's IT environment – systems, integrations, licences, network, suppliers and recovery procedures – so knowledge is held by the business

- Develop reporting and data capability for site leadership: production, quality, maintenance and HR data into usable dashboards and reports

- Manage IT vendors, licences and external support providers; own escalations so issues are resolved quickly without reliance on ad-hoc external call-outs

- Maintain cybersecurity hygiene: backups, access controls, patching and staff awareness

- Support new equipment and automation initiatives so they integrate cleanly with business systems and data capture

- Provide second-level support across workstations, user accounts, networks and devices alongside the existing team

About you

- 4–8 years in systems administration, business systems/ERP support or an IT generalist role where you were the go-to systems person for a site or business unit

- Experience administering or supporting an ERP or plant production system, and comfortable with SQL, reporting and data

- Strong Windows environment and cloud office-platform administration; solid networking fundamentals

- Track record of carrying a project end to end, not just supporting one

- Manufacturing, food, FMCG, logistics or another 24-hour industrial environment strongly preferred

- Excellent documentation habits – you leave systems more understandable than you found them

- Collaborative and low-ego: able to build trust with long-tenured staff and translate between the plant floor, vendors and management

- Relevant IT qualification or certifications desirable; demonstrated capability matters more

What is offered

- $90,000 – $120,000 base plus superannuation, depending on experience

- A permanent, full time role with genuine ownership – you set up the systems map and project discipline for the site

- Benefits including annual leave, sick leave, long service leave and superannuation

- Stable, established employer and a supportive on-site team

- Opportunities for career progression as the site invests in automation and data

- For the right candidate, visa sponsorship may be available

Additional information

- Dandenong-based, on site; standard business hours with occasional out-of-hours support for cut-overs and upgrades

How to apply

If you are a systems person who likes owning the whole picture and getting projects finished, we would love to hear from you. Please submit your application, including evidence of relevant references and current work rights status.
