About the role

Newstime Media, publisher of Canberra Weekly and Canberra Daily, is seeking an experienced and reliable Accounts Clerk to join our team on a permanent part-time basis.

Working three full days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday), you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounts functions of our business, ensuring our financial processes run smoothly and efficiently.

We're looking for someone who is organised, proactive and confident working independently, with the experience to take ownership of their responsibilities and help improve our existing systems and processes.

Key responsibilities

- Preparing and issuing customer invoices

- Processing and allocating incoming payments

- Performing bank and account reconciliations

- Managing outstanding accounts and following up overdue payments

- Maintaining accurate financial records using MYOB

- Reviewing and implementing improved accounts processes and procedures

- Assisting with general administrative duties as required

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Previous experience in an accounts clerk, accounts receivable or similar bookkeeping role





- Demonstrated experience and proficiency using MYOB accounting software

- Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills

- Experience with invoicing, payment processing, reconciliations and debt collection

- Confidence working independently and managing competing priorities

- Good communication skills and a professional approach to customer enquiries

- A proactive attitude and willingness to identify opportunities to improve processes

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

We're particularly interested in someone with solid accounts experience who can hit the ground running and become a dependable part of our small team.
