Pounds + Ounces is a vibrant café located within the Royal Hobart Hospital, known for exceptional specialty coffee and fresh, wholesome food made in-house.

We’re looking for an experienced and passionate Head Barista to take the lead on our coffee offering. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who takes pride in coffee quality, enjoys leading by example and thrives in a fast-paced café environment.

This is a casual position with full time hours available.

About the role:

- Lead and maintain exceptional coffee standards and quality control across the café
- Take ownership of daily coffee operations and consistency
- Prepare outstanding espresso and specialty beverages using our La Marzocco PB ABR
- Set and maintain coffee recipes, dial in grinders and ensure equipment is properly maintained
- Support, guide and motivate the wider team to deliver consistently great coffee
- Provide warm, welcoming customer service and lead by example during busy service periods

What we're looking for:





- Proven experience as a senior barista or Head Barista
- Strong knowledge of specialty coffee, espresso extraction and coffee calibration
- Confidence leading coffee operations in a high-volume environment
- Excellent latte art and milk texturing skills
- Strong communication skills and the ability to support and develop other team members
- A genuine passion for coffee, people and great hospitality

We roast our own coffee and proudly use fresh, locally and ethically sourced ingredients across our menu. As Head Barista, you'll have the opportunity to take ownership of our coffee offering, maintain high standards and make great coffee for thousands of customers each week.
