Chef or Experienced Cook

Marion Storm is a beautiful, busy little café tucked inside the Maritime Museum, with 50 seats inside, a big outdoor deck and lovely lawns for our customers to enjoy.

We're looking for a passionate Chef or Cook to join our team .... someone who loves good food, cares about the little details and takes genuine pride in what leaves the kitchen.

We're all about quality, consistency and beautiful plates. We want someone who brings care, creativity and a good attitude to the kitchen, and understands that a great service comes down to a great team.

About the role

This is a casual position working alongside our kind and patient Head Chef, John, and café owner Claire.

You'll be part of a small, close-knit kitchen team, helping keep service running smoothly, maintaining our high food standards and contributing to the overall atmosphere of our café.

Your regular shifts will be:

Monday: 8:00 am – 3:30 pm, running kitchen service independently.
Tuesday: 8:00 am – 3:30 pm, running kitchen service independently.
Friday, Saturday & Sunday: 4–5 hour shifts, working alongside our Head Chef during service, followed by kitchen close-down and preparation.
We're looking for someone comfortable taking ownership of the kitchen when working independently, while also enjoying the teamwork and rhythm of a busy service.

What we're looking for

- Experience: At least 3 years in a professional kitchen as a Chef or Cook.
- Pride in your food: Passionate about quality, consistency, presentation and making every plate look as good as it tastes.
- Team player: Reliable, positive, happy to work hard and have a laugh,



and comfortable working in a small team.
- Can take the lead: Confident running service independently, while also working collaboratively under our Head Chef.
- Creative: Keen to contribute ideas and have a play with our weekly specials.
- Happy to bake!!! Experienced or willing to learn! We make all our cakes and slices in-house, fresh daily.
- Clean and organised: High standards of kitchen cleanliness, happy to clean as you go, complete daily cleaning duties and leave the kitchen ready for the next service.
- Food safety matters: Careful with food preparation, storage, hygiene and safe handling at all times.

Pay & employment

This is a casual position, with pay to be discussed based on experience and the requirements of the role.

We work in accordance with the Restaurant Industry Award. Applicants are welcome to review the applicable classifications and pay rates through the Fair Work Ombudsman website.
