Our fleet keeps a large-scale vineyard operation moving – and we’re looking for a skilled Diesel Mechanic to keep it running at its best.
About Us
Duxton Vineyards (“DV”) is a large-scale, vertically integrated wine business located in the Sunraysia region of Australia. The business owns and operates over 1,423 hectares of wine grape vineyards in this region, as well as a large-scale winery. Using the latest groundbreaking technology, we lead the way in sustainable environmental practices at scale.
Duxton Vineyards has strong growth plans for the future, collaborating with some of the largest leading wine companies both in Australia and globally.
The Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you’ll be the go-to expert keeping all machinery and vehicles across our vineyard in top shape – from harvesters and tractors to viticultural implements. This is a hands‑on, field-based role for someone with exceptional mechanical expertise who takes pride in keeping machines, engines and mechanical systems running reliably when it matters most.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Diagnose, test, maintain and repair diesel engines and mechanical systems across our harvesters, tractors, trucks, viticultural machinery and other vehicles;
- Track down and fix faults in engines, hydraulics, transmissions, steering and electrical components – and get stuck into dismantling and rebuilding motors, hydraulic pumps, gearboxes and more;
- Carry out scheduled servicing (oil changes, lubrication, engine tuning and hydraulic servicing) and log all planned and unplanned work in the maintenance planner;
- Own the preventative maintenance program for all equipment,
working alongside the Viticulture Manager to keep breakdowns to a minimum;
- Inspect machinery and run diagnostics to catch issues before they become problems;
- Raise and receipt purchase orders for consumables in line with the Purchasing Procedure;
- Keep the shelves stocked with critical spare parts for key plant and equipment;
- Share your know-how with operators on correct maintenance and preventative practices; and
- Get involved in HSE meetings and help drive continuous improvement across our safety, quality and environmental systems.
What You’ll Bring
- Cert III in Automotive Diesel Engine Technology or 5+ years’ experience inrelated field;
- Hands‑on experience servicing and repairing diesel engines and heavy agricultural or vineyard machinery, ideally within a large‑scale operation;
- Solid skills across diesel diagnostics and overhauls, hydraulics, transmissions, mechanical drive systems and 12–24V DC electrical fault finding;
- Experience with mechanical grape harvesters, tractors, vineyard implements and attachments;
- A natural problem-solver with great communication and time management skills;
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team; and
- Flexible, adaptable and happy to get your hands dirty – no two days are ever the same!
Why You’ll Love It Here
- Work on a large, varied fleet
- Use the latest technology in a business leading the way in sustainable practices at scale;
- Grow with a company that has solid plans for the future; and
- Enjoy a hands‑on, outdoor role where your expertise makes a real difference every vintage.
