Your role

Your main focus will be individual income tax returns.

You’ll look after returns from receiving the client's information through to preparing the return, following up anything missing and communicating the outcome with the client.

Your work will include:

- Working through rental properties, including property purchase and sale calculations

- Preparing capital gains tax calculations for property, shares and other investments

- Working on more complex individual tax returns as your experience grows

- Reviewing client information and identifying anything further required

- Meeting with clients to discuss their tax returns, results and questions (in person, TEAMS or phone call)

- Spotting something that doesn’t look quite right and take initiative to figure it out

- Hosting meeting with client, and providing tax advice

- Managing your own list of jobs and deadlines

- Learning from more experienced accountants when a technical or unusual tax matter comes up

- Liaising with the ATO and helping resolve client tax matters

- Keeping clients updated on the progress of their work

About you





You have at least 3 years recent experience working in Australian public practice and experience preparing individual income tax returns. Just as importantly, you're someone who enjoys helping people and takes responsibility for getting things done. You’re organised, but you’re also a people person. You’re comfortable picking up the phone, asking a client a few questions or sitting down with them to talk through their tax.

What you do need

- At least 3 years experience in Australian public practice

- Experience preparing individual income tax returns

- Good written and verbal communication

- Strong attention to detail

- An accounting degree

- Xero experience would be a bonus
