Crest Accounting Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant/Tax Agent to join our growing team in East Maitland, NSW. This is a full-time position that offers the opportunity to take on greater responsibility and leadership within our accounting and taxation practice. As a Senior Accountant, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality financial and taxation services to our diverse client base, whilst also contributing to the strategic development of our firm. This role is based in our East Maitland office and will see you managing complex accounting matters and mentoring junior team members.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and review financial statements, tax returns and taxation documents for individual and corporate clients
- Provide strategic taxation advice to clients on structuring, compliance and tax minimisation strategies
- Manage and supervise the work of junior accounting and taxation staff, ensuring quality and timely delivery
- Conduct detailed financial analysis and prepare management reports for client review
- Liaise with clients to understand their financial objectives and provide tailored accounting and taxation solutions
- Maintain and develop strong client relationships through professional and responsive service delivery
- Ensure all work complies with relevant accounting standards, taxation legislation and professional requirements
- Contribute to the development of new service offerings and business development initiatives
- Stay current with changes to taxation law and accounting standards, and communicate these updates to team members and clients as appropriate
What we're looking for
- Recognised accounting qualification such as CPA, CA or CAANZ membership, or equivalent professional accreditation
- Minimum 5 years' post-qualification experience in accounting and taxation practice
- Demonstrated expertise in preparing financial statements, tax returns and taxation compliance documentation
- Strong knowledge of Australian taxation law and current tax legislation
- Proven experience in providing taxation advice and strategic tax planning to clients
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial and tax matters clearly to clients
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple client portfolios and meet tight deadlines
- Experience supervising and mentoring junior accounting staff
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications
- High level of attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Robust interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain professional client relationships
