Medical Officer – Remote Occupational Health Review (Pre-Employment Medicals)

Review and determine medical fitness for work by signing off on selected pre-placement and periodic medicals remotely. Our trained nursing and clinical teams conduct assessments in our clinics. You review the results in pdf format, determine fitness for work, and sign off from wherever you work. There are no clinic shifts and no face-to-face consulting. Clinic health staff including occupational physician can provide all support if additional information is required to make a determination of fitness.

Key responsibilities

Remote review and sign-off of pre-employment and periodic medicals, including spirometry, audiometric testing, ECG, Functional Capacity Assessments (FCA) and vision, musculoskeletal and general health questionnaires

Review of drug & alcohol results and follow-up (MRO accreditation)

Supervision and review of health monitoring programs, where permissible, including silica, asbestos and other hazardous exposures

Assign fitness-for-work outcomes including advisory comments and/or restrictions, and recommend further clinical follow-up where appropriate

Provide clinical guidance to our nursing team on escalated or complex cases





Complete determinations whether provisional or final within 24 hours of results being available in our system to achieve rapid outcomes

About you

MBBS, MD or equivalent, with current unrestricted AHPRA registration

Experience in occupational health and workplace medical assessments

Confidence making fitness-for-work decisions from clinical data and nurse-collected findings

Current medical indemnity insurance that covers telehealth and occupational medicine

Comfortable working in digital platforms and secure clinical systems and or pdf format files

Capacity to check in daily and consistently to meet a 24-hour turnaround
