The Lord Lyndoch

Lyndoch

We’re looking for an experienced Restaurant Manager to lead our team and oversee the day-to-day operations.

Reporting directly to the Owner, you’ll take responsibility for running the restaurant efficiently, leading and developing the team, maintaining high service standards and contributing to the overall financial performance of the business.

This is a hands‑on, full‑time leadership role suited to someone who enjoys being on the floor, leading by example and making sure the details behind the scenes are taken care of too.

We’re looking for someone who can make sound decisions, communicate clearly, hold themselves and others accountable, and create a workplace where both our team and our guests feel valued.

Key responsibilities

Guest experience and functions

Lead the team to deliver friendly, attentive and consistent table service.

Maintain service standards and ensure guest feedback and complaints are handled promptly and professionally.

Manage function enquiries, bookings and event coordination from initial contact through to delivery.

Ensure the restaurant, bar and function spaces are presented to a high standard.

Financial performance and business improvement

Monitor sales, labour costs, wages, stock usage and operating expenses.

Work with the Owner and Head Chef to achieve financial targets and improve profitability.

Identify opportunities to reduce waste, control costs and improve operational efficiency.

Review sales trends and customer feedback to identify opportunities to improve the business.

Maintain accurate records and follow established financial and cash-handling procedures.

Team leadership and development

Lead, support and motivate the team, providing clear direction during service and daily operations.

Delegate responsibilities, follow up on tasks and address performance issues fairly and constructively.

Support recruitment, staff onboarding, training and ongoing development.

Build a positive, respectful and accountable workplace where expectations are clear.

Recognise strong performance and encourage teamwork, initiative and continuous improvement.

Maintain effective communication between front of house, the kitchen and management.

Operations, compliance and community

Oversee daily operations to ensure the restaurant, bar and function spaces run smoothly.

Ensure adequate staffing, effective rostering and effective use of labour.

Maintain compliance with food safety, workplace health and safety, liquor licensing and other relevant requirements.

Implement and maintain operational procedures, opening and closing routines and service standards.

Build positive relationships with suppliers, guests, local businesses and the wider community.

Identify and implement practical improvements that support the long‑term success of the business.

About you

You’re an experienced hospitality leader who understands that running a successful restaurant takes more than delivering good service. You know how to balance guest experience, team performance and commercial results.

You will bring:

Proven experience managing a restaurant or a comparable hospitality operation.

Strong leadership skills and the confidence to make decisions and take ownership.

A sound understanding of sales, labour costs, wages, stock control and profitability.

The ability to lead a team through busy services while maintaining high standards.

Strong communication skills and the ability to manage challenging situations fairly and professionally.

A practical, organised approach to planning, delegation and follow‑through.

A genuine commitment to staff development, workplace standards and exceptional hospitality.

Flexibility to work across a hospitality roster, including evenings and weekends.

Most importantly, you lead by example. You’re approachable, fair, commercially minded and willing to get involved wherever needed, while ensuring the broader responsibilities of management are never overlooked.

The Lord Lyndoch is a family‑owned restaurant in the Barossa Valley, offering restaurant dining and dedicated spaces for private functions and events.

This is an opportunity to take an active leadership role in an established hospitality business, work directly with the Owner and contribute to the development of the team, the guest experience and the business as a whole.
