Sydney

Senior roles in cloud, delivery, engineering, and change. Placed properly.

Key requirements

- You must be an Australian Citizen — this is a federal government role requiring the ability to obtain Baseline security clearance.
- You must be based in Melbourne, VIC or Sydney, NSW (or willing to relocate) — hybrid working applies after an initial 2-week onsite period.
- You bring demonstrated senior-level chops translating complex business and ICT requirements into end-to-end solution architectures, with the ability to influence executives and governance bodies.

The gig

G'day, Lead Technology Architects — this one's got your name on it.

If you're a seasoned Solution or Technology Architect who thrives on complexity, loves shaping strategic direction, and can hold your own in a room full of executives and governance panels, read on.

Picture this: You're embedded with a major federal agency — one that touches the lives of millions of Australians — working hybrid out of Melbourne, VIC or Sydney, NSW. Your gig? Translating gnarly business and ICT requirements into elegant, secure, integrated architectures that actually get built. You're setting domain standards, resolving architectural exceptions, and mentoring the next wave of APS tech talent. Up to 12 months initial term, with extensions possible up to a further 24 months. That's real runway to make a genuine dent.

This is a Lead-level (EL2 equivalent) contract role. You'll work with substantial autonomy — no hand-holding here — and you'll be expected to bring strategic thinking, sound judgement in ambiguous environments, and the communication skills to land complex technical concepts with non-technical audiences.

We know because we do. The Cloud Delivered crew are senior ICT contractors ourselves. We've sat in the architect's chair, navigated federal governance frameworks, and know exactly what it takes to nail a one-page pitch for a panel like this. We'll help you put your best foot forward.

The vibe of the role:

- Designing conceptual, logical and end-to-end solution architectures aligned to strategic priorities
- Leading architecture analysis, producing artefacts and recommendations that drive executive decisions
- Championing innovation, continuous improvement and knowledge-sharing across the agency
- Building relationships and negotiating outcomes with diverse internal and external stakeholders

Heads up on the working arrangement: You'll be onsite full-time for the first 6 weeks before hybrid flexibility kicks in.

Your home base needs to be within reasonable commuting distance of the Melbourne or Sydney office.

If you tick the essentials below, we'll help you excel — get your pitch ready and let's have a yarn.

- Demonstrated ability to analyse complex business issues within the technology and infrastructure domain; deliver pragmatic, risk-based recommendations; influence stakeholders; collaborate across multidisciplinary teams; and transfer knowledge to APS personnel.
- Sound knowledge of architecture principles and end-to-end solution design, with the ability to consider technology and infrastructure implications across relevant domains.
- Demonstrated experience across infrastructure domains, including on-premises and hybrid platforms, networks, compute, storage, operating systems, virtualisation, and identity and access management.
- Proven ability to design secure, scalable, resilient and cost-effective solutions that meet performance, availability and operational requirements while aligning with enterprise standards.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse business and technical requirements, identify dependencies, constraints and capability gaps, evaluate technology options, and produce architectural artefacts that support informed decisions and successful delivery.
- Robust written and verbal communication skills, with experience clearly presenting architectural advice and recommendations to senior stakeholders, governance bodies and executive forums.
