The Role
The Director Service Delivery is responsible for leading a large, geographically dispersed workforce that delivers base support and estate services across a complex Defence environment. The role provides strategic leadership to ensure nationally consistent, customer-focused service delivery while driving innovation, reform, and continuous improvement.
As a senior leader, the Director influences strategic priorities, leads organisational change, and strengthens integration across regions to improve service outcomes. The position requires the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with Defence stakeholders, industry partners, and internal enabling functions to ensure outcomes are achieved.
The Director also acts as a champion for Defence APS personnel within their region, promoting collaboration across Defence, fostering a high-performing workforce, and ensuring alignment between local delivery requirements and national objectives.
About our Team
Service Delivery Division (SDD) is responsible for delivering the services that enable Defence personnel to live, work and train across Australia. SDD leads the sustainment of the Defence estate and provides critical support to Defence priorities, including major exercises and operations, preparedness activities, and Defence housing. Through these functions, SDD helps ensure the Defence estate remains safe, functional,
resilient and capable of supporting Defence capability.
In partnership with industry providers, SDD manages and delivers the estate services that sustain Defence's living, working, training and operational environments, ensuring personnel have access to the facilities, infrastructure and support services required to meet Defence objectives.
The Division incorporates three operational branches: East and West Zone, Northern and Central Zone, and Customer Services and South and East Zone. Together, these branches deliver integrated base and estate management services that support Defence personnel and capability outcomes across Australia.
