- Salary $88,670- $100,815 per annum (HEW 5 Level) plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading
- Full-time fixed term for 12 months
- Macquarie University, Wallumattagal Campus, North Ryde

Accurate pay, clear answers, smarter processes - payroll that people can rely on.

As a Payroll Shared Services Officer, you will manage end-to-end payroll administration in a high-complexity environment across the Macquarie University Group: processing changes to salary, allowances and deductions, administering leave entitlements, superannuation and salary packaging, and answering the day-to-day payroll questions that arrive from across the University Group. You will be a trusted first point of contact for payroll, so professionalism, confidence and strong customer communication are essential alongside technical accuracy.

This is also a role with room to improve how things are done. You will help review workflows, tidy up data inconsistencies across our HR systems, contribute to standard operating procedures and take part in testing system upgrades. If you enjoy methodical work, like getting to the bottom of a query, and want your attention to detail to be genuinely valued, we would like to hear from you.

About the Role

Reporting to the Team Leader, Payroll Services, you will:

- Deliver efficient, consistent and accurate payroll administration services across the Macquarie University Group, covering all aspects of payroll, compensation and benefits - including salary and allowance changes, increments, deductions and adjustments, leave entitlements, superannuation and salary packaging administration.
- Respond to and resolve Tier 1 payroll, compensation and benefits enquiries within agreed timeframes, providing high-quality customer service and clear, timely communication, and escalating matters where needed.
- Process transactions in line with relevant enterprise agreements, modern awards, employment legislation and regulations, and organisational policies, procedures and controls.
- Monitor, maintain and validate data quality and consistency within and between HR systems, and resolve data quality errors with guidance from your manager.
- Maintain accurate filing and storage of employment documentation, so that record keeping and archiving meet internal and external compliance requirements.
- Collate and interpret data and prepare standard and ad hoc reports for the team and for internal and external stakeholders, informing decision-making, compliance and operational effectiveness.
- Contribute to identifying and implementing improvements and standardisation of workflows, processes and standard operating procedures, and participate in testing of system upgrades and changes.
- Assist the Team Leader, Payroll Services and the wider Payroll Services team with complex operational and strategic matters, and comply with relevant EEO and WHS regulations.
