About the business

Our client is a well-established, founder-led healthcare group running a portfolio of brands across multiple sites. The portfolio covers premium services, a high-volume growth brand and vertically integrated businesses that support the wider group.

The growth brand runs on the group's own tech-enabled operating platform. It's built to scale, and the founders have serious national expansion plans. The business is profitable, well capitalised and investing heavily in technology and growth.

The group has grown to a point where it needs a true finance leader: someone who can partner with the founders, bring commercial rigour to big decisions and build a finance function ready for the next stage.

The opportunity

This is not a bookkeeping role. The core accounting engine is in place, with a cloud accounting platform, an established payroll system and long-standing external accountants supporting statutory and tax work.

The business now needs someone who understands that engine, makes sure it runs reliably and automatically, and spends their time where it matters most: planning, analysis, insight and growth.

Reporting directly to the co-founders, you'll be the senior finance voice in the business. You'll contribute to leadership-team decisions well beyond finance and help shape the strategy of a business with significant ambitions.

Key responsibilities

Strategic and commercial finance

- Act as a trusted business partner to the founders and leadership team, turning numbers into clear, actionable insight.
- Lead financial planning, budgeting and forecasting across the group and its brands.




- Build the commercial models behind growth decisions, including new site economics, pricing for the platform and partner arrangements, and return on investment.
- Benchmark and advise on practice-level performance and spend, including marketing, staffing and operating costs, to help each site run at its best.
- Support funding, investment and expansion planning as the business scales nationally.

Leadership and the finance function

- Lead, develop and get the best from a small team of in-house and offshore finance staff.
- Review the structure and capability of the team and shape it for the future.
- Set explicit standards, processes and controls across the function.
- Bring presence and credibility: hold your own with founders and senior leaders, and be seen as a peer at the leadership table.

Systems, automation and reporting

- Drive automation across the finance function, working with the in-house tech team as the platform automates more processes, including clinician payments.
- Get the most out of the cloud accounting and payroll platforms and integrate them with practice management and CRM systems.
- Deliver timely, accurate and insightful group-level management reporting, consolidated across the brands and sites.




- Work closely with site managers and the leadership team to make sure financial data flowing from the clinics is accurate and useful.

Compliance and governance

- Manage the relationship with the external accountants on statutory, tax and audit work.
- Oversee payroll tax, superannuation and clinician contractor arrangements, which are complex and high-priority in the healthcare sector.
- Over time, assess which external work could come in-house as the function matures.

About you

- CA or CPA qualified, with a strong record in strategic, commercial or management accounting.
- Experience as Head of Finance, Financial Controller or CFO in a growing, multi-site or founder-led business.
- Healthcare, dental, medical or allied health experience is highly regarded but not essential.
- A forward thinker who builds scalable systems and automation rather than doing things by hand.
- Strong commercial instincts, comfortable advising on pricing, unit economics and investment decisions.
- A confident, credible communicator who can influence founders and senior leaders.
- A hands-on leader who can develop a small team and lift its performance.
- Ambitious and genuinely invested in growing your career alongside a scaling business.
