No experience? No problem. Bring the passion, we’ll provide the training.

Yarning Crescent is an Aboriginal-led organisation supporting people living with disability, both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants and the wider community. We’re growing, and we’re looking for reliable, caring people to join our support worker team. You might already be a support worker. You might be Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and know community inside out. You might be non-Indigenous and have worked alongside Aboriginal people in health, education, community services or just everyday life. Or you might be someone who has cared for family, helped out an Elder or neighbour, or simply always wanted to do this kind of work. If you have the heart for it and genuine respect for people and culture, we’d like to hear from you.

What the role involves

- Supporting participants in their homes and out in community
- Helping with daily living, getting out and about, appointments, and social connection
- Building trusted relationships with participants and their families
- Keeping simple, respectful notes on the support you provide (we’ll show you how)

- Help with obtaining the checks and certificates you need
- Flexible, on-call shifts that can fit around family, study or other commitments
- A culturally secure, inclusive workplace that values your lived experience and connection to community
- A supportive team who look out for each other

Who we’re looking for

- An open, respectful approach to working with people from all backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and families.

- First Aid certificate is a bonus, not a must. We can help you get one

No formal qualifications or previous disability experience are required. We value experience caring for family and community just as highly.
