Leigh Street Wine Room is an Adelaide-based restaurant in the heart of the west-end CBD. A tall, narrow gallery with it’s iconic sweeping arched ceiling, rich textures and mishmash of wine-art - all lending to a time-warp mashup of the intimate wine bars and lively drinking dens of Paris, Rome and New York.
We operate in a small team of talented and creative individuals. With a list of over 300 carefully selected bottles, we offer a wide range of local and international wines which is ever evolving. From Champagne to full bodied reds and everything in between.
Our head chef, Nicholas Sinodinos provides bistro style classics with a Mediterranean influence. Our menu changes seasonally, offering dishes that highlight fresh produce that is sourced locally and readily available.
Key responsibilities
A hands-on, full time role combining venue management and sommelier duties.
You’ll be starting as soon as possible.
- Run daily service and venue operations
- Wine ordering, managing the cellar and drinks list featuring unique a high-quality drops from around the world
- Establish long-lasting relationships with wine makers and suppliers through tastings
- Recruit, roster and train the team
- Plan and organise special functions and events
- Resolve customer queries and grievances in a professional manner
- Monitor quality of service delivered and food quality through conferring customers' satisfaction
- Share in the responsibility for the restaurant performance
- Estimate consumption, forecast ordering requirements and maintain inventory
- Arrange the purchasing and pricing of goods according to budget
- Achieve restaurant's operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans, reviews and budgeting
- Foster and maintain clear and respectful communication amongst the team
- Maintain a safe, secure and healthy environment by establishing, following and enforcing sanitation standards and procedures
- Work with Executive, Head chefs and management team to build a strong, collaborative and respectful team.
About you
- 2+ years in venue management or a senior supervisory role
- Strong wine knowledge, with WSET 3 or equivalent
- A calm, confident leader with a strong sense of customer service and excellent hospitality
- Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends
