Three GP-owned medical centres | North Brisbane & Sunshine Coast
Good with numbers, good with people, and enjoy making things happen?
We're looking for an experienced Business & Operations Manager to help us run and grow three medical centres: Sterling Medical Centre, Ninox Health Buderim and Ninox Health Chancellor Park.
We're a GP-owned business with around 20 doctors and a team of nurses, allied health practitioners and administrative staff.
We've grown considerably, and it's time to strengthen our management team.
We're looking for someone who can take responsibility for the business side of our clinics, help us improve financial performance, lead our management team and turn plans into action.
We care about running a successful business. We also care about the people who work here, the patients we look after and the communities we're part of. We want someone who shares those priorities.
What will you be doing?
You'll work directly with the Directors and manage our Multi-site Practice Manager, who is responsible for the day-to-day running of the clinics.
Your role will focus on business performance, leadership, planning and improvement.
Your responsibilities will include:
Financial management: Understanding our financial performance, managing budgets, preparing forecasts and identifying where we could be doing better.
Business growth: Improving the use of our consulting rooms, increasing revenue and identifying practical opportunities for growth.
Leadership: Managing and supporting our Practice Manager, helping develop our teams and maintaining a positive, accountable workplace culture.
Business operations: Overseeing performance across the three clinics, improving systems and making sure agreed projects progress.
Recruitment: Coordinating GP recruitment campaigns, working with our marketing team and recruitment agencies, and supporting practitioner onboarding.
Commercial relationships: Negotiating with suppliers and working with lawyers, accountants, landlords and other external partners.
Working with the Directors: Providing clear financial and operational reports, organising meetings, identifying issues early and helping us make well-informed decisions.
Who are we looking for?
You'll need experience managing a business or a significant part of one. You'll be comfortable with budgets, spreadsheets, financial reports and managing people.
But experience alone won't be enough.
We're particularly interested in how you work.
You should be someone who:
Takes responsibility and follows through on commitments.
Communicates clearly and keeps people informed without needing to be chased.
Is approachable, curious and interested in what others have to say.
Can be firm and make difficult decisions without being unnecessarily rigid.
Understands financial performance and can turn numbers into practical decisions.
Enjoys finding better ways to do things and can implement the changes.
Is comfortable working independently and asking questions when needed.
Can challenge ideas respectfully, including those of the business owners.
Remains calm and constructive when things don't go to plan.
We're looking for someone who can build trust with staff and Directors, set transparent expectations and hold people accountable.
You don't need experience in general practice. Healthcare experience would be helpful, but we're more interested in your business skills, judgement and ability to lead people well.
What's it like working with us?
We're involved owners who enjoy working collaboratively with our managers. We like discussing ideas, solving problems and finding opportunities to improve.
We'll agree on priorities, expectations and the decisions you're authorised to make, then give you the independence to get on with the job.
We don't expect you to know everything. We do expect you to ask questions, tell us when something isn't going well and come to us with possible solutions when you can.
We value a workplace where people are treated fairly, can raise concerns and know what's expected of them. We want to maintain that as the business grows.
What we offer
Salary around $150,000 plus superannuation, depending on experience.
A full-time senior management position with meaningful responsibility and autonomy.
Flexible working arrangements, including the possibility of some working from home.
Direct involvement in business planning, financial performance and growth.
Support from the Directors and an established Practice Manager.
Ongoing professional development, including weekly professional business coaching.
Potential for a performance-based bonus following probation.
The position will be primarily based at Sterling Medical Centre, with regular travel to our two Ninox Health clinics on the southern Sunshine Coast.
