About Us
For over 30 years, Monash College has provided over 80,000 students with a direct pathway to Monash University, one of the world’s top 50 universities, through Diplomas, Foundation Year, and English programs. As a fully owned subsidiary of Monash University, the College serves as the principal gateway to the University for students.
About your next role
As a Student Engagement Coordinator, you will thrive in a fast-paced environment where you will design and deliver a wide range of high-impact activities and events that support students transitioning to living and studying in Australia. This includes coordinating student volunteers, hosting advisory sessions, referring students to relevant support services, as well as leading the delivery of large-scale events and multiple orientation programs - often running several major events within the same week.
Working closely within a small and collaborative team, you will play a key role in delivering support initiatives that enhance Monash College students' successful transition into post-secondary and pre-university study.
To succeed in this role, you will bring a genuine passion for student engagement, strong attention to detail, and well-developed problem-solving skills. The position requires someone who is exceptionally organised, confident working independently, and able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members and stakeholders.
You will also need to be comfortable navigating and integrating multiple systems, with a continuous improvement mindset that seeks out more efficient ways of working.
A typical day in this position might involve:
- Coordinating detailed event logistics such as catering, room bookings, communications, and presentations - often managing multiple events simultaneously and ensuring alignment with College priorities
- Delivering large-scale orientation sessions and presenting key information to new student cohorts
- Preparing and leading the development of the weekly student newsletter to keep students informed and engaged
- Training and supporting Student Leaders to ensure they are confident and well-prepared for upcoming events
- Troubleshooting operational issues quickly and efficiently during fast-moving event periods
We are looking for someone who has:
- Proven experience in event coordination or project management - ideally in a high-volume, time-sensitive environment
- Exceptional organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to juggle competing deadlines and deliver multiple major events in close succession
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to improve systems, processes, and workflows
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to work both independently and collaboratively within a small team
- Demonstrated ability to manage confidential and complex student matters with sensitivity, professionalism, and sound judgement
Should you require any specific support or adjustments throughout the recruitment process and beyond, please advise us, and we'll be happy to assist.
In accordance with our commitment to the safety, well-being, and rights of children and young people, all employees must hold a valid Working with Children Check (or VIT registration) at all times.
