Payroll & Accounts Payable Officer

The Good Grocer | Applecross, Perth WA | Full time

Take ownership of payroll for a growing WA family-owned retail group. You will run the end-to-end fortnightly pay cycle for our Support Office and store teams, keep us compliant with award, tax and superannuation requirements and work alongside the Finance Team on accounts payable. A varied, hands-on role at the centre of a collaborative finance function.

We are looking for someone proactive and organised with an “Of Course Attitude”, exacting attention to detail and a genuine commitment to getting our people and suppliers paid right, first time.

The position is a permanent full time role working Monday to Friday during office hours from our stunning Support Office in Applecross.

About you

- Demonstrated experience running end-to-end payroll, ideally in retail, hospitality or another multi-site, award-based environment
- Working knowledge of the General Retail Industry Award (or similar), Fair Work obligations, PAYG, superannuation and STP
- High accuracy, sound judgement and the discretion to handle confidential information
- Excellent organisation, time management and communication skills – comfortable explaining pay outcomes to Team Members and store managers
- Confidence using Excel and financial systems; experience with TANDA and Sage is highly regarded
- Accounts payable or general Finance admin experience is an advantage




- Ability to obtain or provide a satisfactory National Police Certificate issued within the past 12 months

Key responsibilities

- Payroll processing: Own the fortnightly payroll cycle end to end – review timesheets, validate pay items, process new starters, changes and terminations, and ensure Team Members are paid accurately and on time
- Payroll compliance: Apply award conditions, leave entitlements, tax, superannuation and STP requirements correctly; maintain accurate Team Member records and audit trails; identify and resolve anomalies and keep us compliant with privacy obligations
- Payroll reporting and reconciliation: Reconcile payroll to the general ledger, prepare superannuation, PAYG and payroll tax lodgements, and support month-end, year-end and workers’ compensation reporting. With support from wider Finance team.
- Team Member service: Be the first point of contact for pay, leave and entitlement queries from Team Members and store managers, responding promptly and professionally
- Accounts payable support: Process and code supplier invoices, confirm approvals, reconcile statements, resolve discrepancies and assist with payment runs
- Continuous improvement: Contribute to improving payroll and finance processes, systems and controls
