About the role

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Cook to join the team at WAGYU YA ENTERPRISE PTY LTD in Glen Waverley, VIC. This is a full-time position where you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional culinary experiences to our guests. As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality dishes in a quick-paced kitchen environment, maintaining the highest standards of food preparation, presentation and safety. This role is integral to our restaurant's success and reputation for culinary excellence.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare and cook dishes according to established recipes, plating specifications and quality standards

- Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen workspace, adhering to food safety and hygiene regulations

- Manage mise en place and ensure all ingredients and equipment are prepared and readily available during service

- Monitor food quality and consistency, making adjustments as needed to meet customer expectations

- Collaborate effectively with other kitchen staff, including head chefs and sous chefs, to ensure smooth service operations

- Follow all food handling procedures and comply with health and safety regulations

- Manage food costs and reduce waste through efficient preparation techniques

- Respond to special requests and dietary requirements from guests in a timely and professional manner

- Assist with inventory management and report on stock levels as required

- Maintain professionalism and contribute to a positive team environment

What we're looking for

- Proven experience working as a Cook in a commercial kitchen environment, ideally in a fine dining or high-volume restaurant setting

- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods and culinary best practices

- Excellent understanding of food safety, hygiene standards and health regulations

- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment





- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining consistent food quality and presentation

- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise multiple tasks simultaneously

- Good communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with kitchen staff and front-of-house teams

- Physical fitness and stamina to handle the demands of kitchen work, including standing for extended periods

- Flexibility with working hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays as required

- Certificate in Food Handling or relevant culinary qualification is highly desirable

- Experience with Asian cuisine, particularly Japanese or wagyu-based dishes, is advantageous
