About The Role

As a software engineer, you will design, develop, test, and maintain services and applications that meet production requirements while supporting long-term scalability and availability. You will build RESTful APIs, work with relational and NoSQL data stores, and contribute to systems running on Linux and UNIX platforms. Python is especially relevant, alongside experience with other scripting or programming languages.

You will participate in an agile development process and collaborate with colleagues through design discussions, peer reviews, testing, and documentation. The role may involve multiple openings and collaboration across teams and locations.

Qualifications

Required qualifications include a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science and four to six years of relevant professional experience. Candidates should have experience with scripting languages, especially Python; SQL and NoSQL databases, especially Cassandra; and UNIX operating systems, especially Linux. You should have demonstrated experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs, as well as a strong understanding of coding practices that include unit testing, peer code reviews, and clear technical documentation.

Experience with agile methods and with designing, developing, and testing software for performance, scalability, and availability is also required. You should be able to translate production needs into durable solutions that serve multiple productions and locations,



and communicate effectively in writing and conversation.

Preferred qualifications include at least two years of experience in the computer animation industry and familiarity with Scala, Java, or Erlang.

Experience with concurrency frameworks such as Akka or RxJava is valued. Additional database experience with PostgreSQL, CouchDB, Riak, Elasticsearch, or Solr is beneficial, as is familiarity with messaging technologies such as AMQP or ZeroMQ. Candidates with experience building end-user web applications using JavaScript MVC frameworks, or working with cloud management systems such as OpenShift and OpenStack, are also encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain robust backend services and RESTful APIs. Develop software that meets production requirements and can be reused across teams, productions, and locations. Work with SQL and NoSQL databases to support dependable data access and storage.

Evaluate performance, scalability, and availability throughout development and testing. Write unit tests, contribute to peer code reviews, and maintain clear documentation. Collaborate with engineers and production stakeholders to clarify requirements, troubleshoot issues, and deliver solutions through an agile workflow.

Help improve system reliability and maintainability by applying sound engineering practices and sharing technical knowledge with the team.
