Senior AWS Cloud Engineer / CloudOps Engineer Employment: 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract Working Arrangement: Hybrid Level: Senior / Hands-on Technical Specialist The Opportunity We're working with an established software business looking for an experienced Senior AWS Cloud Engineer to help manage, modernise and strengthen its cloud infrastructure. This is a hands-on engineering position focused on building reliable AWS environments, improving automation, strengthening security and supporting business-critical applications. You'll work alongside software engineers, infrastructure specialists and security teams, taking ownership of complex technical challenges while helping improve engineering standards across the platform.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain secure, scalable AWS infrastructure across multiple environments.
- Manage core AWS services, including VPC, IAM, EC2, ECS/Fargate, RDS/Aurora and networking .
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation or AWS CDK.
- Improve infrastructure automation, deployment processes and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strengthen platform reliability through monitoring, disaster recovery, backups and high-availability solutions.
- Troubleshoot complex cloud infrastructure issues and support production incident resolution.
- Implement cloud security controls, access management and infrastructure governance.
- Identify opportunities to optimise AWS performance, resource utilisation and cloud costs.
- Provide technical guidance and support to other engineers. Technical Requirements Essential Experience
- 5+ years in Cloud Engineering, DevOps,



Infrastructure Engineering or SRE.
- Solid hands-on experience designing and managing production AWS environments .
- AWS networking, identity management, security and infrastructure automation.
- Experience with ECS/Fargate, RDS or other AWS database services .
- Strong Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform, CloudFormation or AWS CDK .
- Experience supporting highly available production systems, monitoring and incident response.
- Scripting and automation using Python, Bash or PowerShell .
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation. Highly Regarded
- Experience with Windows Server and hybrid cloud environments.
- Exposure to Azure infrastructure.
- Knowledge of disaster recovery, backup strategies and platform resilience.
- Experience operating within regulated or security-conscious environments.
- Familiarity with ISO 27001 or SOC 2 security controls.
- AWS cost optimisation and FinOps experience.
- Experience mentoring engineers or providing technical leadership.
- Relevant AWS certifications.
